Title: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: Niakris on November 20, 2010, 14:49
Greetings! I made a program for microstocks for PC.

The main difference between it and another microstock software is submission of images.
This program not only uploads images, but also submits them for checkup. You don't even have to visit sites.

It has standard set of features:
1. Autokeywording utility.
2. IPTC, XMP and EXIF metadata support.
3. FTP upload.
4. Collecting information about sellings and balance stats.
5. Saving files status for different microstocks.

And unique submit features:
1. Quick categorizing images for all sites.
2. Model and property release handling
3. For vector files, automatic creation of ZIP archives from EPS + JPG files, and sending individually depending on requirements of a certain microstock
4. HTTP upload and submission to 10+ microstocks at one time using selected categories, attached releases and so. You will get images in sites' pending and will only need to wait for result.
5. The program automatically checks for its updates. All changes in microstocks' rules and news will get reflected in program very quickly.

Simple video tutorial:

MicrostockSubmitter is shareware: one can submit up to 50 images to each microstock per month for free. Keywording and upload without submission is free without any limits.

I never used isyndica or other and I found this very nice maybe because of the 15$ per month for unlimited uploading.. I have tried it minutes ago and it works pretty good to SS (one of the two that I tried)

the only "problem" is with istockphoto..

categories issue: OBJECTS.. ISOLATED (on the secundary)
this categories are made from SS categories right?

when I open IS it goes online/pending but like reduces 35keywords to 15 (one of those "isolated") and categories put it on HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS.. I guess it is just IS right? we need to have patience :P

I will try other agencies to see how they go, why don't you also talk about these kind of bugs.. honestly I am thinking of joining :)

FT isn't:
- adding title
- adding categories
- submitting..

have seen now categories matchmaking..

it needs a lot of improving, it is a great work but I guess when we have agencies that have so many differences, categories, keywords.. not easy, I guess I will stick with my manual mode!

Post by: Niakris on November 22, 2010, 04:51
StockSubmitter allows you to select individual submit parameters for each agency if you want.

For categories, check menu (Service->Categories matchmaking) to change global matches between SS categories and each agency categories; and "Submit parameters" button to change matches for selected files.

For IStock keywords, StockSubmitter automatically chooses terms for keywords what have single term in IStock list. To select terms for other keywords, click Submit parameters button and select "IStockPhoto keywords".

I couldn't find the cost after 50 images a month...any details?
Title: Re: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: Niakris on November 22, 2010, 17:23
You can see your account statistics and pay for your account by selecting menu Serivice -> My account.

For now, there are 3 account types:
Free - 50 submits per month to each agency for 0$.
Casual - 333 submits per month to each agency for 7$.
Unlim - Unlimited submits for 15$.

There are also payment packets what allow you to save money: 6 month, year and UnlimForever.
Check details in your account page.

A very great tool! Tested with Shutter, Dreamstime, BigStock, 123rf, Deposit, CanStock. All images uploaded AND SUBMITTED with all releases! After uploading I have to do nothing.  Microstock is fun again! Also a very easy, good keywording tool. Better than anyone that I know.

I think it's pointless, cuz StockSubmitter is being updated almost every day.

The System has make a change. And now I must "Login or Register" e-mail (which mail? from Paypal?) Password (which Password) and referer-email. (which mail is this?)
Title: Re: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: Niakris on November 23, 2010, 09:54
You have paid account now so StockSubmitter asks you to register so you can save your account if you move to another computer or reinstall Windows.
Just enter any email and password you would like to use and remember (or write down) them.
If you won't check "secure" checkbox, StockSubmitter will never ask you about email/password again except the cases described above (move to another PC or Windows reinstall).

"Referer" field allows you to tell program what you are referral of another user (another user told you about the program) and you want him to receive bonus when you pay for StockSubmitter.

More feedback:)
I like the popup window  each time you have a sale, works for 123rf and CanStockPhoto for me.

When submit to Veer, you still have to go to your page process the ftp and then submit pictures.
BigStock does not work : of time out message

Atm StockSubmitter can submit files on Veer.com only in HTTP mode. You need to select it in menu "Service -> Site settings". Files will be uploaded using veer's Flash uploader and submitted right after upload automatically without any manual processing.

i click site setting and shutterstock

after i key in username and password i got a message like need email to authorize..

i don't see any slot to enter email.. and what is that http upload and ftp? does it mean this software is not able to ftp to shutterstock? that i need to upload through webpage?
Title: Re: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: Niakris on November 25, 2010, 00:39
Just enter your email in "Site login" field in Shutterstock settings (like in attached screenshot).

There are 2 upload modes in program:
1. HTTP - StockSubmitter will upload files using web form automatically and then submit them immediately without any manual actions.
2. FTP - files will be uploaded via FTP automatically and submitted after server finishes processing them. You have to wait 2-5 minutes before files can be sumitted in this mode.

HTTP type is preferred. You do not need to visit any site! Program will do all the work for you.

StockSubmitter is using WPF for GUI, and WPF is using DirectX rendering.
So it can increase usage of your GPU (video card) and potentially cause overheating problem if you have laptop with bad cooling or something like it.

Also this problem can be caused by bad drivers. Can u install latest drivers for motherboard and video card?

after i install driver from my motherboard, so far no black screen.

but i get quite confused for 'ftp' 'http' 'upload only' 'use title as description'..many options, may need to get sometimes to get familiar.

one features that attract me is the earning balance, it is always good to see all the earning at one page, but somehow there are some earnings aren't showing, like shutterstock..

I'm aware of the issues with Shutterstock earning balance and currently investigating this problem.

Quote
but i get quite confused for 'ftp' 'http' 'upload only' 'use title as description'..many options, may need to get sometimes to get familiar.

Actually, there are 3 possible modes of submitting:
1. HTTP upload: StockSubmitter authorizes on website, uploads files using web form and then submits them right after upload is finished. This is preferred method, as it is most reliable. To activate it, you can check "HTTP upload" radiobutton in corresponding site's settings. Note what this mode is only available on ShutterStock, BigStockPhoto, VectorStock, IStockPhoto and Veer atm.
2. FTP upload: StockSubmitter uploads files via FTP, then waits for 5 minutes and tries to authorize on website and submit them. To activate it, you can check "FTP upload" radiobutton in corresponding site's settings. This mode is unsupported for VectorStock and IStockPhoto as they don't offer FTP upload option.
3. FTP upload only: StockSubmitter will only upload files with filled metadata via FTP and do nothing else. To activate this mode, select "FTP upload" radiobutton and check "Upload only" checkbox in site's settings. Note what you'll have to submit your files manually after uploading.

i wonder how the categories work? i tried to submit one eps vector to bigstock, i remember bigstock got 3 categories to choose, but in the submitter interface, only 2 categories are available, and both are categories from shutterstock.

I can't really see what categories it since the files is successfully submitted to bigstock which i can't view and edit.

anyway, it is a great tool.

Well if you're launching StockSubmitter from your Start menu, and you don't see Auto updater window, then you have auto updates turned off.

Shame, there actually was no way to turn auto updates back on ><
I've added this option to the menu now (Service -> Turn on automatic updates)
But to have it, you need to update first.
To do so, remove file C:\Users\%yourusername%\Application Data\StockSubmitter\updaterconfig.xml
If you're using Windows XP, then the path will be C:\Documents and Settings\%yourusername%\Application Data\StockSubmitter\updaterconfig.xml
After removing this file, restart StockSubmitter from the Start menu and you'll have automatic updates.
And sorry for this.

Your logins and passwords are saved on your computer in configuration files and used only to login on microstocks.
Only data I have access to is count of submits to different microstocks and types of accounts (free / paid).
Earnings balance is too saved only on your computer.

You can check that with any network sniffer, by monitoring StockSubmitter's internet traffic.

Your logins and passwords are saved on your computer in configuration files and used only to login on microstocks.
This is very plausible since your app is a client app, not a server app. I'm a very critical person at times (ahem) but I don't see any reason not to trust your app, especially since it's very easy to verify by a traffic sniffer.
I think LookStat is a bit worried by now.  ;)

Do you have "minimize to system tray" option checked in program settings?
If so, you can either turn it off or use system tray icon to restore program's window.

@ Niakris: you really need an English forum on your site. You software really looks very promising but to discuss it in detail it's the wrong place here. I think here is the better place to discuss your software in general but discussions about feature-requests (I have a lot), bugs etc. should collected in a special forum to provide an overview etc.

StockSubmitter doesn't have submission to FeaturePics support yet.

Your software is definitly great and I would like work with it on my entire portfolio (thousands of illustrations and photos allready submitted to twenty sites).

So I would like change the status of these pictures allready accepted, but it seems it's not possible because categories are not defined.

Could you modify your soft so we can manually change the status of pictures allready accepted without having to enter categories ?

Thanks a lot.

You can use "Ignored" status for images you don't want to submit to some sites (including cases they're already submitted).

Sorry, I forgot what there is "Ignored" status in StockSubmitter for images you don't want to submit to some stocks for any reason (including "already submitted").
You can use this status even for not ready images.

Hi!
I have just downloaded the stock submitter today, and I'm setting the agencies accounts. At this moment I only want to upload files, not to submit them.
I have had a problem with Veer FTP, every time I try to check the not submit button an error occurs and the program have to exit.

Hi Niakaris!

Great Program and good job! Congrats on that!
I have just one question: is there any other payment method than paypal?
You thought about an e.g. 2checkout.com account or something similar?
Paypal is not trustworthy and regulary violating the Laws here, I really think nobody should use it...

Thanks...

Atm I'm spending most of the time working on program rather than adding more payment methods, cuz I think its more important for users.
There are 3 payment methods already tho, and if you want to pay with debit card, you can select corresponding option. Payments from debit cards are processed by LiqPay, its a PrivatBank's billing and you can be sure your payment details will be secure.

Hi Niakaris,
Your program is very interesting, I'm trying to use it this morning.
I don't understand one important thing: how does the model release selection working?
Because only istock need to upload new release for each submitted picture.
For example, if i want to upload the same picture to dreamstime and shutterstock using a previously uploaded release on these sites, how can i select it in microstocksubmiter?

You can just add releases with same names to StockSubmitter's release base and attach them to corresponding photos.
StockSubmitter will use already uploaded releases with same names if present on stocks.

Niakris, perhaps the problem I met with fotolia is because i'm on the french platform, not on the us one. To submit my pictures with keywords embedded in english, I have also to chose the language before submitting them. Inspectors refuse my pictures if i don't choose the correct language.
So, please, can you add to your program, at the fotolia configuration, the possibility to choose the keyword language and also to check the extended license automatically?

Too choose the "Keyword-Language" is also interesting for me - I'm on the german platform, and so submitting doesn't work for me on fotolia.
And another wish: Is it possible to make "Quickmeta" also for GERMAN Keywords? That would be great!

So it is possible to set another site as a source for the QuickMeta-feature? I would prefer Fotolia especially if it would support different languages so I could also keyword in German for example.

I agree in general, but what I would like to see the option to add sites by ourself like it was possible in Cushystock. Of course no submitting but simple FTP-Upload. I submit to a number of very small specialized national sites (not necessarily Microstock) which will never be in  the MicroststockSubmitter-list but they are all offer FTP-Upload. So with this feature users could add sites that are not in the MicroststockSubmitter-list and could keep track of what they have already uploaded to them.
This is my major wish to MicrostockSubmitter.

Before I try this software I have a few questions from someone who has never used anything like this before.

1) How does your program handle phrased keywords such as "Washington DC"? I always use phrases for sites that allow it. Will I still be able to use phrases in my keywords.  I have never used a program like this so I'm just wondering how it deals with so many different standards.

2) Do most people just try to keep keywords under 50 so its easy to submit across the board.

3) Also is there some sort of video tutorial to get started setting things up for someone who has never used anything like this, from all the questions here it sounds as if it is very complicated to use with all of the special settings. I tend to need new programs spelled out clearly for me in some kind of intro tutorial in the beginning. I'm an artist not a computer programmer. Are people finding it simple to use?
Title: Re: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: lightscribe on December 05, 2010, 17:32
Okay, downloaded program. First thing that I encounter is that the "learning initial course" keeps closing on me and when I reopen it it starts from beginning, perhaps a "next" and "back" button on the tutorial dialog box would help to skip to where I left off.

Also how does it handle the keyword weighting/ordering issue with fotolia, when I upload to Fotolia normally it has me order the keywords by importance. Is StockSubmitter only taking the first ten in alphabetical order? From what I understand the keyword importance function is crucial to having your images show up in searches on fotolia.

I do not understand what the "Buffer" information box is used for? Is like a copy/paste clipboard type thing. Forgive my ignorance but it appears that the software was not laid out by a designer but by a programmer, don't get me wrong it is a great idea but could use a little beautification to help it appear simpler to use.  I understand functionality is your main goal at this point but the wording and design looks as though it was programmed for another programmer to use.  Wording like "submit parameters" and "buffer" are a bit programmer-ish and the really busy background art could be toned down, it only adds to the confusion factor of learning a new program, especially for the visually sensitive folks who are going to be using it.  I know a lot of work has gone into it but would recommend at some point having a graphic designer to help overhaul the sightly clunky feel.  Overall I like it and will most likely continue to use the free version, until things are smoothed out some, you appear very dedicated to making improvements which is great to see.

Also Under help the "contents" is all in Russian.

I am only getting 18 kbs/seconds total when uploading to 7 sites, I get 80kb with filezilla is this normal.

also while uploading, the progress/status bars are showing up correctly on the left side for fotolia, dreamstime, 123rf, and canstock, but there are only percentages showing up on the right side (in the submitted area) with no colored progress bar on the left. It was confusing at first I thought only four sites were uploading then I saw the percentages on right for the other three. Can the status of uploads all have the same format (colored status bar) and all be on the left side together.

Yes, shutterstock submission is one by one...that's strange.
This program can be very useful, but actually I must stopping using it, especially for this glitches:
- submit to fotolia doesn't work for other platform than American.
- No possibilities to change keyword order (for the seven important keywords) in fotolia before uploading
-when uploading to veer, status says "ready to upload" even if the pictures are already uploaded on the site!
-don't submit to veer after uploading
-bigstockphoto uploading and submitting is very unstable

Thanks for your efforts !

No words about my problem with Veer FTP only upload exposed several days ago.

I have had also problem uploading to GLO, CanStock, I can't upload to 123RF because size, but I can upload them with the same size through the 123RF site.

Help in cirilic alphabet doesn't help very much.

Working with categories a) takes a lot of time specifying my preferencies or b) produces some mistakes tranforming for exemple arts (dancing in my case) into art objects.

Model release already existing produces duplicates in agencies, and this is a hard problem with some of them as Dreamstime (it can produce rejections and we couldn't change or delete them).

As others have said, I can't change country and language in Fotolia.

I think I will wait this testing period before start paying, and new software is appearing that I can test as well.

1) How does your program handle phrased keywords such as "Washington DC"? I always use phrases for sites that allow it. Will I still be able to use phrases in my keywords.  I have never used a program like this so I'm just wondering how it deals with so many different standards.

StockSubmitter handles multiword keywords fine. It will use them when submitting to the sites supporting multiword keywords, and will skip these keywords when submitting to other sites.

Quote
3) Also is there some sort of video tutorial to get started setting things up for someone who has never used anything like this, from all the questions here it sounds as if it is very complicated to use with all of the special settings. I tend to need new programs spelled out clearly for me in some kind of intro tutorial in the beginning. I'm an artist not a computer programmer. Are people finding it simple to use?

There is link to such tutorial in the first post of this thread.

Quote
Okay, downloaded program. First thing that I encounter is that the "learning initial course" keeps closing on me and when I reopen it it starts from beginning, perhaps a "next" and "back" button on the tutorial dialog box would help to skip to where I left off.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll add this feature.

Fotolia automatically sorts keyword list alphabetically on image submission, how to set weight of keyword on FL ?

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to replace programmer-ish words with more user-friendly ones :)

I am only getting 18 kbs/seconds total when uploading to 7 sites, I get 80kb with filezilla is this normal.

Total upload speed is 18Kb/s ? That's weird, I'm having 300+ Kb/s usually. What type of internet connection do you have ?

also while uploading, the progress/status bars are showing up correctly on the left side for fotolia, dreamstime, 123rf, and canstock, but there are only percentages showing up on the right side (in the submitted area) with no colored progress bar on the left. It was confusing at first I thought only four sites were uploading then I saw the percentages on right for the other three. Can the status of uploads all have the same format (colored status bar) and all be on the left side together.

Colored progress bars are being shown only for FTP uploading.
For HTTP uploading there is only percentages on the right side, but I'm thinking about changing it.

I noticed that when a batch of pics is submitted to SS they are submitted one by one so SS send a report for each and every pics...Is it not possible to send all pics as a same batch?

It is possible, but I made 1-by-1 submit to let StockSubmitter submit images even if some of images in waiting list have issues and can not be submitted.

Smithore

I apologize for these issues, will try to fix it as soon as possible, so check it out later!

The only one problem I have is that I cant check the HTTP-Upload-Box in 123RF in the Site Settings. So the Upload dont work.

HTTP upload on 123rf is not yet supported, just use FTP upload, its not any harder than HTTP one.

Quote
No words about my problem with Veer FTP only upload exposed several days ago.

What problem do you mean?

Quote
I have had also problem uploading to GLO, CanStock, I can't upload to 123RF because size, but I can upload them with the same size through the 123RF site.

I'll fix that in next few days.

Working with categories a) takes a lot of time specifying my preferencies or b) produces some mistakes tranforming for exemple arts (dancing in my case) into art objects.

Automatic transformation of categories aint very trivial task. On some sites there are simply no matching categories for some of the program ones. In this case you have to select categories manually :(
If you think there is better match for some category on some site, feel free to post it here, I'll change it asap.

Model release already existing produces duplicates in agencies, and this is a hard problem with some of them as Dreamstime (it can produce rejections and we couldn't change or delete them).

Just enter same name for model release as you entered when you were uploading this release on sites before. StockSubmitter detects existing releases by their name.

It works fine with your software one have just to take care that if your keywording that you sort the keywords by importance, if one does this correctly with your software it will be correct in Fotolia.

But you have said nothing to my wish for adding general ftp-support for agencies that are not (and probably will never) listed in you software. Can't imagine that this would be too difficult to implement.

Hi, Niakris,

I hadd some issue with your software yesterday

I've suppressed some keywords from a batch of photos into Bridge CS4.
They didn't appeared any more under Bridge or windows7 pictures properties  or in lightroom but they are always here in MicrostockSubmitter even when I
restart the soft and click on refresh button. ???

Thanks for your help.

It means what width of StockSubmitter window is too low to show balance. Try to resize window to make it wider.

Do you have firewall or antivirus? Check their settings, they can affect uploading performance.

StockSubmitter can't detect corrupted files cuz all information we have after submitting the file is little preview and metadata, what is not enough in any way to detect corrupted files.

Corruption of the files during upload may occur depending on quality of your internet connection and stability of the site itself. 123rf FTP is especially unstable, so it can cause such problems oftenly.

To fix these issues, I'm going to add HTTP upload to 123rf soon, it will increase stability and hopefully eliminate such problems.

That's weird.
Try to play with FTP threads count in program settings (both reducing and increasing can help depending on your internet connection). Note what you have to restart program so changes in threads count will take effect.

Can't seem to get above 18kb/s with multiple files being uploaded, If I upload only one photo to one single site as a test it goes up to 40kb, (with thread count set to 1) still not as fast as if I upload with filezilla, My internet connection is technically capable of getting 90kb/s, but realistically I get 80kb/s with filezilla.   What is the optimal thread count I should be set at.  should it be the number of sites I am uploading to or does it not matter?  So far I am figuring the software out fine and enjoy using it...but the only hangup is the crazy slow speed, what do you have your thread count set to when you get high speeds?  Can others please report your upload speeds as well so I know if it is everyone or just some of us?
Title: Re: MicrostockSubmitter - easy submit to multiple stocks.
Post by: Niakris on December 08, 2010, 18:58
Actually with more threads u get more overall speed but less speed per site.
And if the thread count is too high, u can have little overall speed due to high system overhead to get so many sockets working together.
So for your connection i would recommend thread count = 2 or 3.

At the top of the Istock keyworder box, The words "Please select terms for keywords of your image. To disable some key...." gets cut off.  How do I disable some keywords? Do I just not check anything for those words? or do I have to actually delete them from the keywords list?

A few thoughts and bugs...

When selecting multiple releases to attach to a photo, when I select them and click the arrow button, only one release moves over to the image.
The releases don't seem sorted at all.  Can you set a default sort by name or something?  Also, it could be nice to have a field for 'shoot' then they could be organized by shoot first then name.

Yes, atm only one release can be attacheded at a moment. But thanks for the idea, I'll add feature to attach multiple releases at once.
Releases are sorted by last name atm.

I am going to lock this thread now so that each problem, troubleshooting sessions can have it's own thread. That way when people are looking for solutions in the future they won't have to search through 200+ posts to see if their question was asked.

So if you find a bug or have problems with something, please start a new thread.  MicrostockSubmitter has it's own forum area so all the conversation will still be in one place.
Here is a link to MicrostockSubmitter's forum area (http://www.microstockgroup.com/microstocksubmitter/).
