Has anyone had any success submitting editorial videos through Stocksubmitter? I marked two of my recent videos featuring city scenes as editorial within the software program and used the appropriate formats for the editorial captions. And yet Shutterstock rejected them for silly reasons like visible trademarks (brands and logos being visible), infringing on intellectual property etc. It's as if SS didn't recognise them as editorial and treated them like they were commercial submissions. I haven't checked to see if Pond 5 or VB did the same yet.

Apparently, Pond 5 is under maintenance at the moment so I can't check to see if they've accepted or rejected them. And Videoblocks takes ages to review clips. It will be interesting see if I get a similar result from those agencies or whether SS is being the odd one out - rejecting editorial videos for visible brands / logos and intellectual property infringement.

Are you sure you've marked them as Editorial before submitting them? Also please check that the Editorial marks are still there in the program.
There is also possibility for a glitch on the Shutterstock side (happens with releases too) when reviewers don't see something correctly.

Yep, I'm 100% definite that the editorial box was ticked for both of those videos. And today, the editorial box was still selected when I started the program. Though this time around, I had to unselect it because I was submitting commercial videos today.

I was finally able to log on to Pond 5 but the editorial videos are still pending review there.

FWIW, I have used M+ (the beta web version of StockSubmitter) for several hundred videos, more than half editorial.  Yes, it works fine for me.

I don't quite understand that part.
If you had a new commercial content to submit you wouldn't have Editorial checkbox checked for it.
This checkbox works on a per-image basis...

Exactly. That's why I said I had to deselect it when submitting the commercial videos today. When I started the program this morning, the editorial boxes were still selected. So I deselected them.

Yes. That's why I made sure that each of those boxes was selected for each individual editorial video yesterday. And then today, I deselected the editorial boxes for each commercial video.

If you had them selected already for NEW videos then you're doing something wrong probably.
Are you sure you're looking at the selected images Editorial checkbox and not at the template Editorial checkbox?

Possibly. I don't really know. All I know is that they were selected on the previous day for the editorial submissions. And when I started up Stocksubmitter on the following day, the editorial box was automatically selected for each video. Though since I was submitting commercial videos on that particular day, I had to deselect them.

Are you sure you're looking at the selected images Editorial checkbox and not at the template Editorial checkbox?

I'm not familiar with the template editorial checkbox. I can only see one editorial checkbox when I use Stocksubmitter. The one that I see is really tiny and can be found among all the details I fill in for each individual image file and can be ticked or unticked.

Looks like those 'editorial' videos have been uploaded to Pond 5 as commercial.

So the issue must lie with Stocksubmitter.

I have successfully submitted editorial videos through Stocksubmitter in the past so this must be a recent issue.

Could you show a screenshot of the whole metadata panel with the Editorial checkbox?

Here a screenshot. I selected the editorial checkbox in the middle of the pane (like I did before.) However, a little later, I noticed another editorial checkbox near the top. This other checkbox (at the top) would have been clear the last time. I honestly don't know which is the right one to use.

Bottom part of the panel is the template panel, it's not related to the selected images.
You need the Editorial checkbox on the top part of the panel as it's specifying metadata for the selected images :)

Woops!!!

I'm surprised that Pond 5 accepted these "intended for editorial" videos as commercial. With all the logos and trademarks visible, I thought they'd reject them for fear of legal action. I'll delete them from that site and reupload them with the correct editorial box selected.

Ive got another query. Right now, I'm trying to resubmit those two video files which were previously submitted as commercial accidentally. Ive selected the editorial box at the top this time around. Though when I try to submit them, a message comes up saying that these images aren't ready to upload to some of the selected agencies. But Ive filled in all the relevant fields, just like last time. Any idea why I'm getting this message?

The other video files which were not previously submitted do not have this issue.

Probably it's because they have submitted status already for this agency.
You can click on it (in the submission panel) and select "ready", then try to upload again :)

I saw the same thing recently and I think the problem is on Shutterstock's end - someone had a brain fart. Uploaded 4 editorial videos through StockSubmitter and one was rejected because of visible trademarks. The four videos were all variations on the same subject (with more or less the same visible trademarks and all were marked editoral yet one was rejected.

I resubmitted it with the same setting and it was approved right away.

Why cannot you?
You just need to follow the link from the message when you try to log in and activate access for your account.

It's also doing the same thing to a new file which was not previously submitted. And the metadata is complete on this one too. I selected the file in question but I cannot see "Ready" anywhere. I'll try clicking 'No' to the question: "Do you want to submit other files?" and hope for the best.

*. It didn't work. I don't want to click 'Yes' to the question because that would indicate that I don't want to submit those particular files.

Select the files that have this issue, find their status for the agency in question in the bottom panel, it should be uploaded or submitted, click on it, select "ready" :)

Most of the videos in this batch have been submitted successfully to the various agencies. However, there seems to be an issue with Pond 5. Stocksubmitter indicates that two videos have been uploaded and two videos have been submitted. It's been like that for many hours. I left it running overnight and it's still the same way today - nothing's changed.

I went on to the Pond 5 site and sure enough, two videos have been successfully submitted. In fact, they've already been reviewed and accepted. The other two videos are nowhere to be seen on the site. They're not even in the 'online' or 'processing' categories. No sign of them at all. By coincidence, the two missing videos are the ones that were previously submitted and ended up being accepted as commercial on Pond 5. I had deleted them from Pond 5 though.

Maybe I'll close down Stocksubmitter and try uploading those two clips again - just to Pond 5.

By the way, within Pond 5, Ive also checked the 'all', 'needs edits', 'rejected' and 'returned' categories but those two clips are not there either. Though Stocksubmitter indicates they've been uploaded to Pond 5.

So I'm uploading them again right now.

By the way, SS has accepted most of the clips now (including the ones that were previously rejected.) But they did reject one of the newer ones for lack of press credentials but I was half expecting that.

Okay, those two videos have been uploaded again. According to Stocksubmitter, they have both been uploaded to Pond 5 but once again, there is no sign of them on the website of that particular stock agency. Not a trace.

That's a common problem with Pond5. Their processing system is slow and unreliable so you can expect to wait days sometimes before the files will appear on their website.
You can try re-uploading them from time to time but most likely they sit on their FTP already, waiting to be processed.

Any chance of making the 'Editorial Box' more distinctive ?   Maybe CAPS  or bright Yellow or Red perhaps ? ;)   Larger would be Good !!  I keep forgetting to Tick it :(    I can't be the Only one surely !?

Well that would be not very convenient for those who are not shooting Editorial content :(

Why ??  if they don't want it, then they don't tick it !  Surely ??  at least they'd be able to see it wasn't ticked, easily ;)

I don't get the your point ??  or the problem  :-\

Most of users don't produce Editorial content and for them seeing some option they don't even use or know what is it for to be always highlighted.

That's surprising to hear. Many contributors shoot editorial though I had no idea that they were in the minority.

By the way, I waited for a few days but those two videos are still nowhere to be seen on Pond 5. I'll upload them again.

Yes, that's a common issue with Pond5 content ingestion system unfortunately...

It won't warn in those cases:
- there are other validation errors;
- file has the uploaded or submitted status.
