Title: StockSubmitter for Mac [ALPHA]
Post by: Niakris on December 31, 2015, 00:53
After more than a year of active development I'm happy to announce that the first public alpha release of StockSubmitter for Mac is ready!

Please note that at this point the program is totally not ready to replace virtualized win-version because it has very narrow feature list and it supports a few agencies only.
However, the most important thing is that the core of the program is done and it will be way easier and faster to extend it.
This release is being published for public testing, finding and fixing bugs and issues.
Everyone who will participate in testing will have nice bonuses after public beta release (there will be way more agencies supported in beta) proportionally to their participation.
Mac version is not limited in submissions and does not require any subscription or registration at the moment.

What the Mac version is yet lacking:
- all the other agencies besides Dreamstime, DepositPhotos, Lori, Fotolia, Shutterstock, Pond5, 123rf, VectorStock;
- individual agencies metadata (besides common fields);
- QuickMeta;
- group metadata editing;
- buffer/template;
- other nice small features.

What extra features the program has compared to win-version:
- showing all images in the folder and subfolders recursively together;
- resizing/moving all the panels;
- automatic currency exchange rate fetching.

What will be implemented in the next alpha builds and in which order:
- CanStockPhoto;
- Bigstock;
- individual agencies metadata;
- group metadata editing;
- buffer/templates;
- other agencies.

===

The program is being automatically updated with every launch. If you will install it in the home directory it won't ask for password when the main program binary is updated.
Interface is quite different from win-version in some parts.

===

Please specify explicitly when asking questions about Mac version since it's a completely different program from the win-version.

We will indeed implement most of the Win version functionality in the Mac version but it'll take time.

There won't be a final version, we'll keep working on it like on Win-version.
Implementing similar to Win version functionality in the Mac version will take MUCH time.

It's forcing me to update when I open Stocksubmitter, and failing near the end with "The installer encountered an error". Nothing more useful than that unfortunately! I last opened StockSubmitter on 28th April. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5, and I'm installing to the default location etc.

Try removing existing installation and re-downloading & reinstalling again.

Do you connect on a non-standard port? I tried again from home (before I was on a corporate network) and it's worked fine now.

It's great software by the way, thanks so much for bringing it to Mac.

No, only standard web and FTP ports like you would do manually.
But firewalls can get paranoid about it sometimes (because automated requests are being sent more often than if you would do it manually probably).

Do you plan to support Videoblocks.com?

Yes sure.
Windows version is already supporting it.

For Vectorstock it won't help because it's a server-side limit. It's VectorStock's server that doesn't allow large ZIP files, responding with a HTTP error.

Hi,

I'm new to StockSubmitter.  I have thousands of images that need to be upload to multiple sites.  I downloaded the free version to see how it works. It seems to be working for a few sites but I'm having problems logging into pond5.  I also can't find on your site the list of 27 agencies you support.  Is there someone I can call to get all my questions answered before I purchase your program?

Thanks.

Hi,

Please direct your questions to me by e-mail [email protected] / Telegram Netherspite.
For pond5 could you also send a detailed description of what's happening when you try to log into it?
