New StockSubmitter version (v1.4) is launched for beta-testing.

What's new:
+ The program now can run in x64 mode if the OS is 64-bit. In this mode program will be able to use all available memory instead of 2Gb only it could use in x86 mode.
+ New updater is updating only changed files.
+ New register/login window should make login process more transparent (it is now performing exactly the action you asked it to perform, not registering a new account if you made a typo in e-mail).
+ The program is no longer being run as Administrator. This change should resolve the problem with displaying network drives.
+ The program should now start faster.

You need to remove current version and install the new one from the official website http://stocksubmitter.com/ if you want to use it!

I can confirm  that this StockSubmitter version shows network drives. A big thanks and a thumb up for this quick solution to Niakris and the StockSubmitter team !

Ok, seems that I found a but. When I close the proggy an error shows up:
Quote
Error: Error saving IStockPhoto term choices: Access denied to "C:\ProgramData\StockSubmitterCore\istockterms.dat"
When I click ok, then a second one shows up:
Quote
Could not save templates. Please make sure the program has write access to its Application Data directory.

Everything I have done is opening SS, clicking on a network directory with some images and then click on the "X" to exit.

Yes, it is a problem related to the old version working with administrator rights.

The solution at this point is to manually set full access permissions for Users group for the folder C:\ProgramData\StockSubmitterCore (Data, not Files!)
It will resolve this issue.

I  use the version 1.4.5468.38233. I thought that the proggy starts now without admin permissions?

Anyways the fix seems to work fine for me. Thank you very much for the quick help  :D

Yeah, it is now working without admin permissions.
The old version was working with them and thus all configuration data is saved with admin-only access settings.
New version copies old version configuration and attempts to save them with user-allowed permissions but sometimes it does not work it seems :(

Try removing folder C:\ProgramData\StockSubmitterCore (ProgramData, not Program Files)
and reinstalling the program using the latest installer from the http://stocksubmitter.com/ website.

New version is out of beta now and seems to be very stable.

It is now recommended for everyone to update by reinstalling the program (if you didn't already) because old version will not receive updates anymore.

I think I automatically got the update when I started it up this morning... but then again I just reinstalled StockSubmitter last week, after uninstalling the older versions on my computer.

If you reinstalled the program within last 2 weeks from its official website ( http://stocksubmitter.com ) then you're using new version.

Thanks Niakris - I really couldn't live without this software.

Is there a 'forgot password' function somewhere for accounts.  I see there is a change password function on the website but I can't remember what my password was to start with...

No, there is no "forgot password" feature yet, but I can manually reset your password to something easy so you can change it after that.

Hello Niakaris,
I uninstalled the old version of the program and installed the new version . Unfortunately, the program does not start. I get the following error message:

OS Windows 7 64 bit
.Net Framework 4.5 is installed.
I hope you have a solution for me.
Thx

Does folder C:\Program Files (x86)\StockSubmitter\App\ contain any files except updater.json ?

Folder contains only file updater.json.

That's weird.
When did you install the new version?
If not within last two days - try removing it and reinstalling again.

same result here on XP system !

Updater just sits and does nothing on my Win7 system ??  have to invoke Task Manager to kill it !?

Do you allow post-update process to run? Windows should ask you whether to allow it or not.

I downloaded and installed the program yesterday. Now I have the program downloaded and installed again. the error message is still. The error message comes after I have the UpdateFinisher.exe allowed to access the hard drive.

That's weird.
I've added some additional information to the error message window that will help me to find the reason of the problem.
Please reinstall the program and post here any error messages you'll get.

When I try to change (and save) settings, it says "autosave interval should be between 0 and 86400", but it's set at 120.
Only when I change it to 0, I can save my settings. But I cannot change back the interval to 120, because it considers the number invalid.

Also, when I open Manage Sites, and I close it again (without changing anything), I get this popup twice, saying: "Settings to these sites have been changed. Save changes?"

Autosave interval should not be lesser than 300.
The description is not updated, I'll do it later.

Regarding Manage Sites window, what agencies does that window list as changed?

I think it's all agencies where I've previously filled in my login information.

I'll try to reproduce.

To be more specific:

It says:

"You have changed settings for the following agencies:"

And then follows a list of agencies, starting at Cutcaster and everything below it, even agencies I haven't filled in, including all 'Custom FTP's.

reinstalled again today on XP system !  Ran SS, which ran SyncUpdater, and same error messages !!

ran Updater myself and NO messages ??  so ran SS and all seems well !?  very strange :(

No luck on Win7 system though, updater just sits there and no movement on progress bar ??   again have to kill process to end !

I'm using a VPN to access UK tv while in Spain !  I've tried disabling and Logging off, but still get same results !  could this be the problem ?

Try reinstalling by running the installer As Administrator.

One time my firewall had blocked the installer or updater, and I had to manually add it to the "trusted" list.

Try reinstalling by running the installer As Administrator.

ran Setup as Admin

ran SS as admin
ran Updater as admin

still no update and Task Man needed in both cases to abort !?

Well, the only other possible reason is firewall/antivirus messing with the program somehow. Try turning them off.

Nope!!  no change !
Updater still hangs !   maybe it's waiting for the second coming ??

Looks like it's back to Filezilla !?  ;)

Are you pretty sure you used the latest installer from the website? It was updated few days ago to fix some issues.
Also, at which point does it hang exactly? Can you post a screenshot?

I uninstalled and deleted anything left, then downloaded again this evening !

I ran this setup prog, which finishes and leaves no icon or information ??  then I have to run SS from the folder created !  this calls Updater, which tells me it's updating, but does nothing !?

nothing to post really !!  just Updater doing nothing !? :(

Wait wait.
It does create an icon.
Start -> Programs -> StockSubmitter.
Try running it from there.

I've updated the installer once again.
Please re-download and re-install the program.
It should display more information in the updater window.
If it stucks again, please post a screenshot of it after 5 minutes.

Well that looks like a network problem.
Can you try with a different internet provider and see if that helps?
Also, make sure you have disabled firewall at router/modem.

I wish I could !  I'm piggy backing off a neighbour, so no control over router settings ;)

and only the one reasonably strong Wi-Fi signal anywhere near me !

so looks like it may have to wait ;)

The old version was working fine though, so just the Updater of this new version !?
and of course my XP laptop is now working too, on the same Router !?  ???

Hope this tells you something that may be of help ;)  Stu

Such problems (Internal server error) should leave error messages in the server log.
However, I can't find any error messages in our server log.
Thus, it means the updater is connecting to another server.
This can be caused by a proxy or virus.
Please check for the both (the proxy can be checked in Control Panel - Internet options - Connection - LAN settings)

I did say Early on that I was using a VPN and therefore a Proxy server ;)  HotSpot Shield !!

any way round this ?  I did try disabling/signing out from it, but it seemed to make no difference !?

is it possible upload release model and categories via SS to stock?
I have tried uploaded photo with release  and categories to fotolia but seems uploaded only original image (title, keywords, desc is ok).
But nothing about release model and categories.

Thanks,
Alex

All additional fields (releases, categories, etc.) are filled during submission.
This is separate process from the uploading.
The program checks the agency website every 15 minutes (if you didn't disable it or close the program). As soon as the images appear there in the unfinished section, the program will submit them and fill those fields.

ok, thanks for info.

Can I upload realese by ftp manually? and why release can not be uploaded with image, not only during submit?
E.g. I want check all settings (including category and realese) on web site before submit it

0
Unfortunately, there is no option to fill all the fields without submitting for the number of reasons:
- for most users it is useless feature (because it ruins significant part of the time savings);
- for some agencies it is not possible to implement as filling the fields is combined with the submission;
- it's hard to distinguish images that are not yet filled from ones that are already filled for some agencies, thus it's hard to count submissions for the paid subscription purposes.

ok, it's clear.

can we get status of submited image (approved, reject, etc) and reject description?
it will be useful to analyze result and re-upload rejected images after correction

This feature is planned for the very distant future, because it will take very much time to implement and is not easy.
