I believe this topic is quite unnecessary, like I have said on the topic you have created days ago the likes dont change the searches by potential buyers, if I were you I would focus on other agencies (too)

Portfolios of topcontributors barely get likes.
Only when you are so extremely active on the site that you become the 'most active contributor', your own portfolio probably will be more visible to buyers for the link is on the frontpage.
Temporarily.
For it is not to do to hold on giving likes night and day to stay in the picture forever. Unless you have nothing else to do, of course, like taking photos or something...

I suppose that MP was thinking that by this system top portfolios should go up and bad portfolios should go down. It doesn't work at all.
Thereby comes that an image not can be judged correctly, for it can not be easily seen at 100 percent. Lots of likes are given to thumbnails, which sometimes shows very bad images when clicking on them. A like cannot be undone. And it seems to be only a small group of contributors that are active with giving likes.
Giving a 'thumb down' or unlike for an image results immediately in a massive act of revenge against your own portfolio.
Some contributors seem to have switched of the possibility to give likes totally. I do not know what kind of effect this has to the visibility of their portfolio.

When MP doesn't want to review all images themselves, in my opinion they should do best to remove at least the worst quality from their site. Otherwise over time finding good images should become like finding a needle in a haystack to buyers.
Another point is that I see a lot of images that should be editorial that are uploaded as commercial RF. I am afraid that MP will be hold responsible when they will ever be sued for misuse, for they allowed this.

On the other hand: they are a growing agency, you can have regular sales there when you build up a good portfolio, they pay in Euro and you can download your own portfolio when needed (Don't need that: I have two backups.)

they dont I guess and it makes a lot of sense, you as a contributor must be responsible to everything you upload, what's the point of uploading a Nikon camera with the logo on it? if anybody is doing this (stock) just a tiny bit serious it wont happen..

I agree with everything you have just said

Like use to have an effect, but MP change this a long time ago. And they mad this very clear at this time that Like's will have no more effect on the placement of you image.

If you spend your days giving other people lots of likes, you can get on the front page in the "Most active in the last 30 days" section.  That might boost sales slightly but I don't think it's worth the effort.  It probably explains why there are so many likes there though.

Frankly, I'd prefer if potential buyers would just go to my portfolio and buy stuff.  ;)

When the site first started I got regular sales at 18Euros each. Now I get a ton of likes.

I'm thinking I like Euros better than likes.

The Euro might be worth about as much as a like soon :)

Very Funny.

And that whole question about do your best sellers sell the same on all the sites is answered best by MP.

All the "best sellers" from everyplace I ever uploaded, were on MostPhotots for a couple of years and never one sale. So there's the answer. Nope my best sellers aren't the same on all sites. Some places like MP and Panther, they never sold once.  >:(

Nice place for holding an off site backup collection.
