For the last couple of days the site was getting slower and slower - and now dropped off the net altogether. in the beginning - it was operating OK. Then it started loading slowly, but once there - it was OK. Then - getting into member's profile started taking a lot of time.  A day or two later - the images started loading slowly and/or not displaying all. Today - I can't even connect.  At the same time - no problem whatsoever with any of the other sites. What is going on ?

Edit: BTW, I have noticed that ScandinavianStockPhoto.com is address is showing up at the bottom of the screen when I click on Mostphoto shortcut: again - strange, but maybe someone knows what is going on ?

we are upgrading some hardware and the site will be up in no time. In about half an hour or so.

Regarding to your slow connection: Where do you live?

Australia - but I was not concerned with speed, but with VERY distinct deterioration of the site's behaviour over the last couple of days.  Various parts and functions of the site have been drastically slowing down, one by one. I do not think that my location has anything to do with it - I am getting all European sites very quickly. And why was ScandinavianStockSite address showing up ?

Edit: whatever was done to the hardwate/software (see Arian's post above) obviously worked: the site is back to its usual speed  :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Arian,

Is there any reason the "zoom" feature doesn't work? I'm on IE6 and pop ups are allowed.

Thx

Zoomed veiws work for me, and I also use IE6.  I don't think it's a popup however, but a flash.

I must say, I'm not a big fan of the site design.
Would rather see less fuss, more simplified and be able to move around more quickly.

Slow for me also!

Extremely fast for me in Florida too, except last night, must have gotten bogged down or something.

Just my two cents, I LIKE the web design, and I'm a web designer... I can appreciate the complexity of the design and love the functionality of it, especially the Global Chat and the Private Chat ( wink wink Mark)...

I think this one has potential...

Overall site navigation is slow to me too (living in Finland), but the main page loads fast so it is not about the connection speed I think (I have 8mbs connection).

If you are on your profile page and want to go your images page the response time is somewhat 25 seconds... Page responses should be under 500milliseconds to get good usability. And if you go back from images to your profile it takes about ~23seconds. Search function works faster (around 2-5 seconds) which is ok, because the images start appearing to result page quite fast.

The site has its speed problems, but it is very well done. I hope the back-end design works well on heavy load too.

I'm in Central Canada.  I thought I would check in on MP again as many on this continent are now saying that the speed is wonderful.  Wow, I punched in mostphotos.com and it loaded within 13 seconds.  I'm very impressed.   I closed the window and started again.  Doesn't load for 75 seconds.  I close window and open and try to connect again.  Doesn't load for over 2 minutes.  That's it.  I give up for now.  Let me know when I can start uploading to these guys.

navigating the site is slow, ftp uploading to them is fast, tagging is  fast. of course, if there will be no sales in two months, i will close my account there, as i did with LO and FP. I am staying with SV because there are occasional sales, and those occasional $3 count.

I see in the forum they are thinking about starting a subscription service.  I don't like pay per download sites doing that, it doesn't seem to benefit the contributors.  Hopefully they will drop the idea.

I'm not even on MP yet, but I'm already saying "NO!" to subscriptions.  (Shutterstock's the only one that's been able to pull off subscription selling satisfactorily).

8 euro is only if they downloaded 10 images in a month.  If someone is purchasing a subscription, they will probably download much more than 10 images in a month.
