my first sale today!

after 2 years and about 2100 pictures, not good!

but still surprising: I didn't believe it possible anymore to receive a "Mostphotos Notification - You have just sold an image" email

Isn't it a sign when people bother about saying "I've got a sale"?  ::)

Isn't it a sign when people bother about saying "I've got a sale"?  ::)

a sign to remind us to stay away from low-sale sites indeed
and stop uploading everywhere (as I did in the past)

now the winner is... cutcaster: the only site with 0 sales for me

PS: to be fair to mostphotos, I asked for payment with moneybookers after my one and only sale and they paid me in less than 24 hours!

I already got my sale this year :)

OTOH I will continue to upload there - free remote backup is not easy to get!

It is! I haven't had sales at SS for two days and I'm extremely worried about it. No sales at Mostphotos ever with little hope of sales in future and it doesn't really bother me. Perhaps I should also upload my entire portfolio for a backup!

I know, thread from the dead, back in June, but it fit, so why re-invent the whole thing?

I've been uploading some rejects from other sites. Not because of quality but content issues. I have the new shots as old as 1897 right now. Out of any copyright in the world, including anything that would require a model release.

Now that someone mentioned backup I saw that on my account and wondered what the deal was. I haven't used it. So if someone who is using it could explain. Does it download the images or everything, including tags that were added later?

Something about people celebrating one sale in a year, is scary for me. Sure I'd like to sell some of these leftovers and I think someone might be able to use them, but if the word Buyers is a scarce item, I guess I should just consider the backup as a feature and have some fun uploading my shots that other agencies won't host? One sale large would beat some other places? :D

No, this thread deserves to live! I have sales there! Regularly!
Unfortunately 2010 sale already happened, I am now waiting for 2011 one!

Nope and it has new content beyond the "anyone have a sale yet" part.

Free backup of your portfolio seemed to work out for some people?

I didn't know about the free backup until I read the new post.  Checked into it, downloaded all of my files, and everything is intact the way it should be.  Fantastic!!!  So for me, having access to a free backup service more than makes up for the lack of sales.

Which is good for you, but I'd have to upload everything, before I could have the backup.  :o  :)

Let me add, I haven't reached 20 pictures on MP yet. It's just been an "art" outlet. Maybe if I had 100 photos I could join the club for people who had a sale, once in the last year. As it is, I find it amusing and use the site for the out of the ordinary shots, unlike the "stock" stock sites.

Next I'm wondering who the referrals are that I have on my account stats and if it means anything, or if I get a pat on the back for being nice and suggesting MP to people. ;)

Honest I could start my own dead agency. Some days I think it would be an interesting project, others I think about the waste of time, because of all the "free" photo sites, good established agencies and what good would a niche site be, when no one knows it exists? So that all boils down to, how much time and how much entertainment would I be interested in?

I'm glad someone resurrected this thread - I had forgotten about this site and so went to check - I had a sale of a high res image for 12.50 Euros. A Christmas present!

I'm beginning to see the light and agree with you. Not the question about has anyone actually had a sale, (HA HA, hardly anyone has two on the whole MP site) but the empty Mostphotos promises for three years, no sales, no marketing, playground for votes and points for messages?

OK it's a good place for free backup. Make sure you copy everything before they disappear with the site when they go under. :(

It was some in 2009, only one in 2010. Hardly any in total.

Hmm... I had one sale in 2008. Suddenly I have three sales already this year (2011). Are things starting to pick up at Mostphotos or am I just lucky?

yeah, I used to get a sale often enough to keep me interested, but nothing in a long time except one of their pathetic sub sales. If I got a dollar for every 'like' I'd make some money. A waste of time

Looks like their buyer has returned :)  Sold a few recently, one PPD, a few subs and one of my referrals has sold something.  I still really like the site, there's a lot of junk but also a lot of great photos that aren't on the micros.

Also got my first sale there after a year and a few months of selling nothing. They need to clean their image database, there are a lot of cr*ppy snapshots.
