Title: Agency for iPhone snaps
Post by: Mediarena on May 16, 2012, 02:47
I just read an article on the new http://www.foap.com (http://www.foap.com) agency.

Article in Norwegian: http://www.amobil.no/artikler/gir-deg-125-kr-per-mobilbilde/109302 (http://www.amobil.no/artikler/gir-deg-125-kr-per-mobilbilde/109302)

The business model is to sell cellphone snaps. This to offer photos with a more natural look than typical agency shots. The site seems to be based in Sweden. Photos sell for $40, with a 50 percent commission. Images are uploaded via an iPhone app.

"The Seller confirms, through the uploading of Content to Foap Market, that the Seller has received all required consents from any and all private individuals participating in Content (“Model Releases”). Upon request from Foap, the Seller undertakes to provide such written or other evidence as Foap may reasonably require to confirm such Model Releases from participating individuals/models in the Content. "

Risky.

Can't see it working. Microstock is generally cheaper (especially for small sized images) and offers vastly more choice. They'd need very deep pockets to market themselves adequately and would be unlikely to recover their costs.
