http://1x.com/

I deleted an email with a note to self:  "Ignore this."

I just noticed that the site is being hyped on Ken Rockwell's site.
Anyone else been contacted?

I got an email from them about print sales, but I am a member there.
They have a beautiful collection.

Are you familiar with Imagekind, Tom?  Is there a comparison?

I used to have some photos there. It got turned off by the clique-y, artsy culture.  There's great execution, but also a lot of sameness, and it's gone heavily photoshop and is less and less about photography per se.

Yes, I am also on IK, Warren. They are very different, IK is a typical print-on-demand agent, you upload what you want and there is no inspection.
1x.com is very artsy, it is quite hard to get a photo accepted, and they started as a gallery showcasing "the best photos in the world". If you get a photo accepted it will be viewed by thousands, so apparently they want to turn it into cash now by selling prints.
IMHO Vetta is kindergarten stuff compared to 1x.com.

Go downtown in the late afternoon, find a deserted street or better yet a bridge; have a buddy put on a long dark coat and stand 20 feet away with his back to you, shoulders slumped , head down; put him low and to the right in the frame and shoot.  Convert to b&w and push the contrast until your buddy is a black silhouette.  Vignette the corners.  You'll get in.

Wow.  You're there too?  I should have investigated more thoroughly.  :P
