Good luck, this is a very elite club. I think it is mainly artists that visit so I am not convinced about sales on there. Not many artists buy from other artists although many use the site for inspiration.

i've the same feelings, the whole site is all about them and nothing about buyers and in their forum and groups nobody ever talk about sales which is a major red flag !

i don't care if they're a bunch of snobs with their 8000$ Leicas, i just can't see anything leading to sales over there, no forum discussions, no blogs talking about it, nothing at all, and this is bad sign.

I got a few accepted there years ago, but most of what I submitted was rejected for lack of 'emotion' or 'story'.    I left.   It's a bunch of artsy hipsters that like overblown Photoshop creations, spectacular shots of Iceland, and artificially grainy black-and-whites  of lonely people on city streets.

I've a few up and even had one accepted into their "curated" collection.  Never had any sales though.  I agree with ME that it is a good site for inspiration, but not so much for stock images.

i don't hate Leica at all, many of my favourite photographers shot with Leica in the past.

but it's 2014 and as a guy with a strong technical background i just can stand all the hype surrounding Leica, Zeiss, Voigtlander, Linhof, Rodenstock, Pinhole cameras, Polaroid, and so on.

and the reason is all this hype is irrational and based on the fetish to belong to the exclusive Leica CULT !

most of these b/w street images can be done with a 500$ DSLR and a decent prime lens, and this is a fact.
but no, the Leica cult members will be horrified at the idea and will insist you need an 8000$ Leica just to get the foot in the door.

this is unacceptable, Leica is nr.1 only in a few niche situations where you really need the best quality lens, anyone claiming a Leica M9 beats a D810 is full of sh-it and their complaints against DSLR being not enough low profile, too heavy, and blah blah blah are equally full of sh-it, if you're a good photographer you will take the shots you need anywhere, just look at the shooting style of people like Steve McCurry or Bruce Gilden and see what i mean, these Leica guys are too shy and full of insecurities they should better go home and forget about dealing with people on the street if they lack the skills required.

and yes, it's a full fledged "cult" just like Apple, there's no way to reason with them, it's like dealing with creationists or radical feminists.

maybe your images were not strong enough from their fine-art perspective but again where are the sales, do they ever sell or it's just a clubs for people masturbating with their Leicas and giving each other a pat on the back ?

Yeah, you are right again, when looking a very old comedy AD-s and looking around its still often truth, having PC you get much bigger and better camera, like here:

Mac Ad - Web Cam - Mac vs PC

and when looking PC home movies you get as well much more - also moustaches:

Get a Mac ad with Gisele Bundchen

Have a nice weekend :)

I had a few macro photos accepted there some years ago, and still upload a few images from time to time, mainly for the weekly theme, which I find very inspiring.

I don't get many votes in the weekly theme, but it's good fun to find a photo to participate with. And I usually get at few votes and comments  :)

I never had any sales, and have not seen anyone writing about it.

yeah but the moral of the story is that if you're a power user there's nothing to be afraid from PCs and Windows, the availability of software running on windows is 100:1 compared to OSX and that's what matters to get the job done.

unlike many other users i don't identify myself with the computer i use or the software i use or the camera i use, they're just tools of the trade, i've zero loyalty towards brands, whenever i buy something i just make a cost/benefit analysis and that's all, if tomorrow Apple starts selling at fair price i could jump ship to OSX, no problems for me.

I agree to an extend,  if you are using one brand as in Microsoft or Canon, it  would be very costly to switch brand, like to Apple or Nikkon, as you have to replace all software and lenses as wel

lenses are forever, anything else is obsolete after 2-3 yrs.

How does a Canon lens fit a Nikon body? If you switch brands, you need to change your lenses, thats what I mean.

you sell them or even better you find a local photo store that deals with second hand gear, but you'll get more money if you sell by yourself to friends or on ebay etc

however, i don't see the point switching from canon to nikon or viceversa, apart for a few things they're both great products overall, the only exception is if you really need a D810 and 36MP but i'm sure sooner or later Canon will come out with something on par or better.
