Clipdealer who run a banner at this site, are advertising for contributers.

Any experiences?

Looks interesting to me, as they are in Germany, which has a good market for scandinavian pictures

Decent prices, decent commissions, rather slow sales (but better than some other low earner sites).

I would recommend them as an additional site if you're spreading your work out.
Certainly no replacement for any of the top sites volume wise.

Thanks - they offered me to do the keywording if I bulk upload, s I'll give them a try, as it is mostly a supplement

Yes do that. Upload all you've got and let them do the work. It can't get any easier than that.
Commission is really fair and in EURO!!!
Good luck!

I didn't even consider this site because I (wrongly) thought from their name it was only for videos.
Nice to know it also sells pictures, will have a look.

Among the new sites/low sellers, the German ones are the only which have some sales for me - maybe because my pictures are mainly European.

I have a little over 500 online with them, and usually a couple of sales each month. So they are a low earner, but at least the do produce sales.

I've had a collection of video clips there for a while now, and only a very few sales.  Their inspection process for stills appeared to be quite subjective, unpredictable, and unreasonable, so I won't be uploading any more.  It's possible that the difference in cultures plays a large part.  My video sales are much better on Pond5, so I haven't uploaded any material to Clipdealer in quite a while.  I have found their customer service to be very responsive.

may i know your sales are mostly photos, illustrations or footage?

i had done some search of photos and illustrations.. isn't that impressive.

I subscribed about one month ago:
- no sales until now (but it's too soon to say);
- average acceptance rate;
but unfortunately:
- uploading process is too time consuming for a low seller: I don't want to select categories, releases (even when are not needed), point of view (!)

Low sellers should streamline the upload process as much as possible: FTP and then forget about it. Otherwise, I will not contribute.

I would say it is about 50% photos 50% illustrations.

I uploaded 100 or so images about 3 weeks ago, and as usual for a new site I uploaded some of my best sellers at other sites, and every single one of them was rejected for being soft focus/blurred. I often get rejections from other sites for stuff like overfiltered or not what we want, but I can hardly ever remember any rejections for blurred/soft images.

not bothered uploading any more since then.

Uploaded some of my best sellers too...most were rejected for soft/blurred etc. Considering the time consuming upload process and the low sales I dropped the site.

I've been with them for many years. Would I recommend them ... absolutely not. Five years ago yes. They re-distribute our footage to many other agencies throughout the world. It's not just a link to ClipDealer but actual giving them the file. No way to track. The affiliate agencies use a different Artist name than CD or our own names so it looks like someone "stole" your footage and is re-selling. Sales are all but non-existent in last few years. There is no transparency on how or what they sell. Total lack of control or accountability. Nope I would not recommend them. Sales are not worth the time or energy.

I didn't think I would ever get to this. But because of lack of communication, lack of sales reporting and my footage on a dozen different agencies that they send the actual file to under a different name than mine or CD ... I've requested an accounting and immediate deletion of all clips at all of their affiliates. I have no faith or trust left in them. Sorry CD, once you had a chance, now no more.

I reached payout in June, and I'm still waiting for my payment. Sent many emails to support. They promised to send the payment two weeks ago, but still nothing. Has anybody been paid by Clipdealer recently?

No payments in a long time. I have several payments pending and no replies to my emails. This sucks!

I've had one sale in 2010, two in 2011, one in 2012 and one in 2013. Nothing since.

Based on the movement on the 'just sold' page, and if that page is showing all the clips that have been sold... then they're selling about 10 to 20 clips a week in total. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut up shop some time soon. I'd keep pushing for the payments while you still can, before they go the way of the Revostock.

That is just for disputes between businesses and consumers, however. If they really don't pay (and the amount isn't completely ridiculous), you could just have a German attorney send a letter. It wouldn't cost much and (if you can actually get them to pay up) may even legally have to be paid by them.

Let me know if anyone ever has issues with someone in Germany (infringer, agency etc.). I can probably point you in the right direction.

Thank you for your help. Is there something like the Better Business Bureau in Germany? In the US it is easy to file a complaint with them.

There is something called the "Verbaucherzentralen" (Consumer rights associations), but that's difficult, too, as such institutions are also geared towards consumers and not towards people who are trying to make money (like us).

If somebody owes you money here, you usually send a demand letter (can be an email) that clearly states that you are due payment. Then, if the other side doesn't pay up, you have to go to an attorney. Since we are all friends here, I would gladly do it for you -- but I also have an account with them, so I fear I'm not eligible. Other lawyers wont be free, but depending on how much you are owed it shouldn't be expensive either. Read: it's not worth it for 100 Euros, it may be worth it for 1000 Euros.

Thank you, Markvs, for all the good advice. Well, miracles do happen and I got the payment last night, even though Paypal hit me with a 5% charge. So to those who are still waiting for payment keep sending them emails, and you may eventually succeed.

S***... just noticed this thread is about ClipDealer. Had it in my head it was about ClipCanvas for some reason, so my comment applies to them, not ClipDealer. Sorry!

Although I've only had one sale at ClipDealer in the past couple of years. A few more for the year or two before that.

I deleted my portfolio there a year ago, it just wasn't selling. Took me a few weeks and a number of mails to get them to close up and pay out what they owed me..
