Just wondering if anyone has experience of British Images, http://www.britishimages.co.uk/ and if anyone has received any money from them?

My likes:
  • Clear concept for the collection
  • They accept images with content that other sites might decline
  • Very quick to process initial photographer application
  • Very quick to review submitted pictures
  • Quick friendly response to email queries
  • High rates paid to photographer for RF images (50 percent of sale price)
  • Provide online search statistics

My dislikes:
  • Quality of website (too many issues to bother listing them)
  • No online statistics for viewings or sales
  • Haven't had a sale yet (but my portfolio on the site is small)
  • Prices seem high (GBP 50.00 for large size) and total library size is small so sales likely to be limited

I avoid sites who put apostrophes in the acronym FAQs ...

I tried five of my best keywords. The images that came up were so few and so ho-hum I'd hate to rub shoulders with them.

Just a quick follow up to say that I asked them to remover all my photos from their site (you don't get a delete option yourself which I would have preferred). To be fair they did remove all my pictures promptly so I no longer have anything with them. They don't give any viewing stats so I don't know to what extent my photos were ever looked at, what I do know is that I didn't earn any money.

I have been uploading to them since March and now have around 400 online. No sales to date. As mentioned you cannot currently see how many views your photos have had so have no idea how much traffic they are getting. I queried this on their blog and they replied that they were hoping to add this in the future. However, they are still very new and I will be continuing to upload to them. They just need to build their customer base. Happy selling out there, David

Has anyone here had any sales on this site? I have about 450 on there and not one sale to date (started uploading to them last March). They still do not have a views or downloads counter so impossible to know what traffic/sales they are getting. Their last posting on their own blog was in September 2008. Any feedback appreciated. Regards, David

Yap, the FAQ's acronym is "Frequently Asked Questions". That's the case for all FAQs.  :D

Don't you mean the FAQ acronym is "Frequently Asked Questions".
Or
"Frequently Asked Questions"'s acronym is FAQ.

"Frequently Asked Questions" isn't an acronym, FAQ is.
:P

Their crime is not just limited to the offensive missuse of the apostrophe in "FAQ's" either.

The full topic is actually described as "Buyers FAQ's". The FAQ are possessive to multiple buyers ... so it should be "Buyers' FAQ"

Nope  - just 'Buyers FAQ'  because Buyers' would be pronounced Buyerses  ;D

Obviously not!

In a way you got the feedback you need, the grammer on their site is more interesting than the site itself and with that I'm off to edit some photos.

If it's a possessive pronoun, no apostrophe is needed. The more I think about it, the more my brain hurts.  :D

I was going to say no, then I thought yes, then I thought no...

I've sworn off any new sites for 2009. (except if I get accepted at Getty) That's an easier answer. NO!

Positive pronoun or not, I really don't appreciate this website.
I had no sale with them (with a limited selection though), and the webdesign is extremely poor. I think that is what prompted me to stop uploading there.

To be objective,  we should not judge a site based on its lack of grammar or whatnot.  We  see mistakes here and even on yahoo news, etc. For example: loose/lose
loose is something that is flacid or shakable, the opposite of tight.
lose is to misplace something, or the opposite of win. (this, a spelling checker will not flag).
My point is, not all of us are born with a dictionary in our heads, but that doesn't mean that "hey, this photographer can't spell , he can't be that good!"
Same waiver applies to stock agencies, don't you think? ;)

do you mean to say PROPER NOUN?

A possessive pronoun = mine, yours, hers, his, its,ours,theirs...

Anyone got any info on this site? They have vanished off the web and they seem to be  no longer listed as a member of BAPLA (British Association of Picture Libraries & Agencies). Never had any sales from them but I'm a bit concerned about the 500 or so images I had there. Cannot find any info anywhere about them closing (if they have). Would just like to know for the sake of "closure". No need to worry about their grammar anymore it seems ;) Regards, David.

Very strange. I had assumed this site had long since closed but I just found that I could log into my account and search my images. I even tried uploading and keywording an image -just to see what would happen. It's now "pending". On the other hand the email contact on the site doesn't work (got returned undelivered right away) and still unable to update my address and contact details. I'm posting them a letter (if I can remember how ;D ) just to ask the obvious question -are you still in business or not? Anyone have any current information about this site? Regards, David.
