Title: Is PressFoto dead or alive?
Post by: IF on November 15, 2019, 12:09
Hi,

I've just found one of the smaller "Middle Tier" and because last discussion to this site were in 2015, I wonder if they still exist. I've just checked the site for contributors and wanted to register myself as new contributor and I've got 'error 404 page not found' .
Has anybody some news?
Thanks.

Interesting:
10.6. Controlling Law. This Agreement shall be interpreted in accordance with the Laws of Singapore without regards to the laws regarding conflicts of law. The parties hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction to the court located in Singapore.

and contact is "please contact us via [email protected]"

So tell me, anyone who uploads there, 50% of 26¢ you get 13¢ per sub? WOW talk about the race to the bottom.

I've got an answer from support:
"Currently, we have stopped registration of authors at Pressfoto."

It seems that they are done with this platform and work on the next project, according to the details in the e-mail, called  Everypixel. At the moment only Beta version available, seems to be 'super-search-engine' over 18 agencies.

If this become successful it will force the agencies to lower the prices in order to be competitive. This on one hand, on the other hand will force the contributors to exclude some agencies from support (but as we know this is difficult to happened).
Also this can bring the personal portfolios (websites) in the game of prices and here we'll win always lol.
And overall we talk again about one more factor for lowering the prices.

Quick test, search #1, first page, all mine except five images. Test #2, none found (it was a retired race drivers name, available on Alamy), #3 looks identical to SS search, I see no others.

At this stage, I see some IS, DT, SS, Pixta?, who's Pixta? Maybe someone can find more of the 18.

But back to your point, yes I suppose buyers could find the best rices, but they would need an account at that agency, and I'm not sure that price alone will move someone from paying $3 at one site, to $2.50 at another. Some buyers like the ease and comfort of buying from someone they know and have an established account.

Single image buyers, yes, I think you are correct. They might shop for lowest price.

If they find mine, they are only on SS or DT, if they find someone else's well, I didn't lose a sale, did I? I mean I'm not uploading to 18 cheap sites, just so my images can compete against my own images, on price?

Oh I should have also said: DEAD

No new users, lets guess they will be shutting down, unless one of the 18 agencies is PressFoto?

I've uploaded a batch of my portfolio ~2 y ago to give it a try.
They stopped the uploads almost a year ago, had few small sales in the beginning, but nothing after.

It seems pretty dead in last year.
Yes, it is a Russian agency otherwise.
