Never seen the site, but if you look at the "featured light boxes", it seems like all the images are contributed by Kozzi Inc..... ::)  So it seems like a one man show, pushing hard at his/her own sales and allows others to also participate.......

Also all images are accepted (no quality control) and if you want to earn the highest level commission 10% of the images you submit must be free.  :o

I will not get close to that one with a ten feet pole.

Wasn't there a thread about them a while ago? I seem to remember something on MSG, that already triggered all alarms about joining Kozzi. Can't find it, though.

Hi -- I am the founder of Kozzi.com

I would like to address a couple of the comments by CD123 and explain a little about the Kozzi business model.

First of all, yes we are fairly new to accepting contributor content but we have over 100,000 members and growing quickly.

We just launched our contributor module a couple of months ago, as such, much of the content at this moment is our own internally produced images, vectors and video.  However, we are not about pushing our own internal work but highlighting and selling images from contributors.

Let me comment on the free images aspect of Kozzi.  Our business model is to drive massive amounts of traffic through Kozzi featuring the free content.  Each time a member does a search for any image 60% of our page highlights premium (contributor) content.  What the Kozzi free model does is give you, the contributor, the maximum amount of exposure.  Plus - Kozzi has an advertising model similar to Facebook and we pay the contributors 40% of advertising revenue based on downloads of free content.  We have always felt that every photographer has tons of images that don't "cut it" and never leave the hard drive.  We are offering the ability to earn off  those images as well.

Finally your comment about quality control is not correct.  We review every image one by one before approving the image for premium or suggesting the image for the free section.  Yes we will accept a higher percentage of your images than many other stock sites.  But let me explain.  We have built a sophisticated search algorithm that 'learns' by user behaviour which are the best images and which keywords best represent the best images.  Therefore, over time the absolute best and most relevant images will be in front pages.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Dan Kosmayer

You can perhaps drive "massive amounts of traffic through Kozzi featuring the free" sub-standard "content", like one will attract a massive amount of flies by putting out a lot of dung.  Can not see how one can attract paying customers for quality content in this manner.
But that is just my 5 cent's worth. Do not want to argue the principle with you, as  you are obviously of different opinion. Make it big and prove me wrong  ;)

If you are new to accepting contributor content, are the 100,000 members you already have buyers? Just curious.

We launched Kozzi.com in the spring of 2011 and have been building a member base and traffic prior to launching the contributor portion of Kozzi.

That doesn't exactly answer my question. What do the 100,000 members do? Buy your images, or are we talking facebook, twitter, etc.? In other words, why would I become a member?

In order to download any images - premium or free - you must become a member of Kozzi and joining is free.  Not sure about your reference to the social networks as there are no social aspects to the Kozzi model.  People join Kozzi for only one reason, they need images, and yes they purchase subscriptions and credits no different than any other microstock agency.

OK, so not disposing of my theory that it will indeed attract "a massive amount" of free loaders yet....

after 15 min search I cant find any other author than kozzi so please Dan, could you tell us (or maybe a link to) the name or username of at least 10 of those 100000+ contributors? Until now "the absolute best and most relevant images " and apparently the only ones that are present on your site belong to a contributor called Kozzi Inc, but maybe I am wrong. Ill be more than happy to play along  if this is indeed what you say it is.

I'm sure the 100,000 are registered users, not contributors. It's clearly a marketplace mostly for their inhouse images. I hope they are successful - seems like a big commitment to an interesting model.

1.24 cents per dl.  NICE!!.  At a 50% commission (assuming it is that high) you get a whopping .0062 cents.  With a payout min of $100, you'd need 96,774 downloads before your first payout :o

they talk about 20 to 25 cents per sub but that doesnt matter because they are selling them so cheap not adding any value or future to our work

Wondering if anyone has bothered to join and accept the royalties.

I have talked with Dan for a while by email and it seemed a nice guy but I am far from happy in terms of buyers plans/prices, waiting for a change!

I'm not contributing there, but I had another look today and it seems like a terrible site for contributors.

They sell images via credit for 50 cents, any size and you get 25 cents. They offer 25 cent royalties for subscriptions, but when the buyer pays as little as 8 cents if they buy in volume, I can't see how that can last. They let you embed a watermarked image (like Getty) for free in a blog or web site.

They stopped updating the free image/clipart of the week archive in April, suggesting the site isn't being looked after very actively.

Kozzi was the first site I contributed to when I started MS, mainly as an experiment to see what this whole MS thing was about.

I don't have many sales there, but it is still has better sales for me than CS (As well as Yay, but that goes without saying). So it is not my lowest performer.

That along with the easy upload process (just submit with keywords, and Dan seems to personally add categories for you) make it worthwhile uploading for me.
