I like a lot that they give you a personal comment on every photo you submit, even on approved photos! These comment can let you shot a better photo next times!

...the only problem is that they have very few customers :(

Well that might be true but they are "up and coming..." and besides, did you take a look at the prices?  They are not a "dollar site" like IS and BigStock.

I love the critiquing that the approvers do, and now i am one of them.  We are now debating whether approvers should just let all the junk through just to build the portfolio, or be as stringent as the other microstock sites so that they build a reputation for quality (at those prices, they better, its hard to build a good reputation but its REALLY easy to get a bad one!).

Y'all check it out, its a great site and I pray it builds its customer base really quickly... the payout is awesome.

Ciao Stepunk!

I'm a submitter at TP also and it's been a great experience.  I'm totally pro a very stringent quality control, otherwise the site does not have a future.  So far I never had an unfair rejection.

Adelaide

Had a quick look but didn't get all the answers. If you can help out with the following:

50% of $10-25 is that right?
FTP Upload?
upload limits?
does it read exif data?
How strict is quality control - as hard as istock or more like ?? ?
And most importantly, what are sales volumes like?

edit: and do they have a referal program?  link please.

CJ:

> 50% of $10-25 is that right?

right

> FTP Upload?

no

> upload limits?

5 images in queue, more if requested (and I suppose if you have a high approval rate)

> does it read exif data?

Yes and no.  I suppose you mean IPTC for title/description/keywords, it does, but you have to edit because description field is limited and so is keywords, which have to be adjusted as well (double quotes for composed words, removing plurals).

> How strict is quality control - as hard as istock or more like ??

I would say that are less picky but still very strict in quality - I have no complaints on the rejections I had, unlike at iStock.  However, there are some complaints that they became more strict when they've opened the approval to contributors.  I, for one, am very picky.  :)

> And most importantly, what are sales volumes like?

It seems low, but then the site doesn't have a huge portfolio.

There is no referral I know of.

Adelaide

This occurred to me but considered that everyone there is on the same boat and therefore images would be safe among colleagues (and once they're approved or rejected, the high res image is not available anymore). However, you're right, it's an issue.  Have you commented about that to the staff?

Agree 100%. No sales, but I will continue to try there for the pricing scheme and the feedback. I like their feedback so well, they have become my benchmark site. Almost all images go there first. Of course, the downside the feedback on accepted shots is when you get back, 'Great composition' and the next site rejects it for 'Poor cropping'

Oh well, thats life in ms

I appear to be the only one of the opposite opinion. I don't want the feedback from Joe Photog. I don't want Joe Photog approving or denying my photos. I don't want Joe Photog adding or removing keywords, altering "weight", or talking amongst themselves about my photos. I don't consider it any of Joe Photog's business. It's between me and Totally Photos and I would hope they would drop it and hire the necessary staff to do the job properly. It just makes them seem cheap and amateurish.

There has been a lot of discussion about the TP policy of opening the approvals to contributors in general.  Apparently there haven't been many problems (although some people email TP staff about rejections they disagree with).  I agree however that this policy is not good because they let things too loose - or so it seems, as I have never received a feedback from them about approvals/rejections I had done.

I once wrote them about a certain contributor who systematically submitted series of very similar shots (some had been taken at different distances, but most were very subtly different) and whose quality also lacked a lot in focus (his camera has an internal upsizing algorithm, but what do I have to do with it, images were VERY soft!).  They replied me saying that they had gotten in contact with him and bla-bla-bla, but soon I saw new submissions with the same problems.

I agree that the consistency of the reviews aren't as good since they have allowed other reviewers. My point was if I am going to get feedback, I'd rather it be specific to the shot, rather than completely generic like on Fotolia, or 'We have many shots like this, or on StockXpert where 99% of them are 'We are not looking for shots like this'

As with other sites, I no longer argue and rarely resubmit, but good constructive criticism from any source can be useful if taken with a grain of salt.

Also, they have caught things that I didn't see and would have caused rejection elsewhere. This is entirely my problem, but if they come back with, 'there is a logo on the ballpoint pen in the pocket of the 3rd guy on the left', I can fix this before I upload it elsewhere and it gets turned down without me knowing why.

All that said, I wish I could sell sumpin there.
