I'm not sure if they are up and coming or down and going, but I wonder if anybody are selling there. I registered there a while ago, but haven't uploaded anything yet.

Look at the top selling images for the month.

http://www.microstockphoto.com/popular_photos.php?month

this should be a good indicator to you on how the site is for contributors.

I have a hand full of images there for three month. Some view, but no sales. The image approval time is extremely long.

I have had photos there for a pretty long time. Stopped uploading a pretty long time ago too. Never had a sale.

I had like 4 dlds there, and the last one was over one year, I think.  Time to remove images from there, in fact.

I uploaded several images there. Those images were accepted at both IS and SS. They refused about 10% of them, giving some absolutely stupid reasons about bad exposure etc. On top of it they had taken ages to review them. After almost a year I had zero sales there whereas the images kept selling elsewhere, so I deleted them all and closed my account there. This Microstockphoto is definitely not worth. >:(

Graphicallyminded, Microstockphoto, not MostPhotos... lol

But, good to know that about MostPhotos!

I just tried to click the link, and the site seems to be gone.

Finally resuming my spreadsheet, I log on to Microstockphoto.com tonight. As usual, no sales - I have had none for over an year.  So I thought "Let's ask to delete my portfolio there and forget it", and I went to Contact Us page, and it says:

In september 2006 the Norwegian IT company ViaStep (viastep.com) bought MSP
and started to improve the site and backend system to make it work better for the photographers and customers.

Improvements?

Also logged into Gimmestock, one sale in September and one this month.  The site still grows slowly, but in the recent uploads I see Barsik, with images uploaded a couple of days ago.  What does a big seller do in a site like that?

Adelaide

I've been joking about this site for about a year. In case anyone wonders, the forum had a last message of sometime in August, asking if the site was dead. Then a members reply and today the owner has arrived (two months later) to say the site has been sold and the new owners will catch up on everything, including the reviews.

There you are, all the hot news.  ;D

I always thought the site had a great name and it came up high in the search engines, but it was dormant whenever I looked at it.

Personally, nothing has changed. No new sites. It's bad enough that I keep hanging on to Snapland hoping that Horton will hear the Who and it will be saved from the Grinch, when the giant finds out someone stole his snow goose. Or something like that?  ::)

There is a post by Ruben on their forum, dated from Oct 21st:

Just to give a little update. within a few days everything will be moved to a new server and will be taken over by people that have more time and programming skils to continue with MSP.

All images in the queue will be checked asap and everything will be back on track asap. an official statement will be released very soon.

Ruben

As far as I can remember, Ruben is not the first owner of MSP.

Anyway, I think it's time to have my images deleted from their website.

Adelaide

A very old thread, but not worth starting a new one for this site.

After years of slowly deleting everything I had there, I wrote support (once again) requesting my earnings - mere US$2.15, but hey, they're mine. For the first time, I got a reply. A negative one, but at least there is someone on the other side, as it doesn't look like an automated message.

Hi,
microstockphoto.com photographers get paid by request when their balance reaches $50 according to microstockphoto.com terms and conditions... $20 as actual practice really.
We can't serve small sums as you've requested for, sorry.

Best regards,
MSP support

It's fun though that the announcement of the site having being sold and starting to be improved remains the same after more than two years.

I've had 43 images there for about 3 or 4 years. I stopped uploading when they were having FTP issues years ago and I never went back...I sold 3 images in 3 years for a whopping $2.10. Does that tell you anything?
