Title: New Site reliability
Post by: annabelle496 on October 15, 2009, 07:40
I would like to know which new sites are actually reliable in terms of reviewing time, sales, customer service, etc.

While happy with the Big 6, I have seen more trouble than anything else with sites like Albumo, Calalog Images, Scanstockphoto and Pixmac.

What is your favorite site and why?

A.

to be honest, I don't think its worth it unless you have a gigantic, high quality portfolio.  Even still, the gains would probably be marginal at best and given that the industry is consolidating, you would be better off concentrating on making better photos than uploading to borderline competitive sites.

Just my opinion, but you should note that I'm exclusive for many reasons, one being that I was sick of the variety between sites

I agree.

I used to upload to 15 Micros. Total waste of time.

3 went out of business while uploading and the others just had horrible returns.

Upload to less agencies and focus on producing awesome images.

I saw a guy on iStock with 130 files in his portfolio and he got 33.000 sales. It's only about quality if you want to rake in the big $$$.

Outside the first 9 in the earnings ratings poll, I get payouts from zymmetrical, yaymicro, panthermedia and rodeo.  Veer marketplace is just getting going but I am encouraged by sales so far.

I find it easy to upload to lots of sites while I am working on other things.  I don't care about review times, some take weeks but what difference does it make?

I have my entire port on mostphotos for a few weeks now but no sales so far.  They are by far the easiest to upload to and theres no reviewers getting in the way, so everything you upload there is active in their database.  Not much money to be made there, but the great thing there is that you can upload your port back to your hard drive again, so in essence it becomes a free place to back up your port.
