We are in the process of developing a brand new stock site it will be called Piemags and will have a very simple upload process, all we will need are images with captions and our software will do the rest, no more keywording! this is the first public message anywhere about Piemags, so far 100K has been invested so we are planning on giving the big boys a run for their money but looking after the contributor, this is taken from our about us page.
As Piemags would not exist without its contributors, our philosophy is to treat them with the recognition they deserve and offer an excellent rate of commission. Our commission will start at 50% BUT our goal is for this to increase to 75% in the contributors' favour! Consumer or contributor give us a try you will not be disappointed.
We are at the initial stage of taking on contributors so fire off an email to [email protected] to show any interest and if you would like to be onboard from an early stage, completely free nothing to lose by joining us and coming along for the ride.
Depending on interest we will post further public information but at the moment we are just trying to get a feel for any interest.
We look forward to your emails and thoughts in the messages here..........
P.S. We will also be taking footage :)

Your plan is to have AI keyword everything?
hahahahahahaha
-
No AI, we have a better system for images being discovered and a way of generating Keywords, obviously we are not going to give away our secrets.
-
Ok, let's try to be positive about it...
- 50% for contributors is good, that is already better than the rest.
But:
- Keywording: You need to say more about it, else nobody will believe that you have a "better system for images being discovered and a way of generating Keywords". We have all seen many attempts at that, and nothing so far has worked for anything but very generic examples. Example: I shoot a lot of travel / nature / wildlife. Most important keywords are exact location names, exact species names etc, all information that (until now) no automated process can provide.
- Prices? 50% is fine, but if this is 50% of minimal prices, than that's a clear "No, thanks!"
- Buyers? What is your strategy to attract business? Why would anybody buy from you (a new, unknown site) instead of Shutterstock or Adobe (or...) where they already have an account and an active subscription?
- Who are you? Before I start a new business partnership, I'd like to know who I'm dealing with...
So, I think without a bit more information about you and what you intend to do, the interest will be small...
-
I think it's fair to say, contributors will be skeptical. We've seen "we have a new agency" post come and go for a number of years now. Some never showed up, some are dormant and might as well not exist, hardly any came close to anything they promised.
So please don't be offended if people here don't jump right in and say how much we love the idea. Show us your site, show us what you are going to do and what you are doing now, on a website, not a vague message on a forum.
Then build trust through you actions.
I'll add my skepticism that any site can exist and stay in business at 75%. Making it at 50% is a hard road.

"Piemags"?
What's your USP?
Your initial post, lacking proper grammar, doesn't seem very professional, Paul.

And... He's gone? 2 1/2 hours?

Lol, that was quick.
-
Flakiest yet!

Yeah, I couldn’t get past the name. What about “piemags” screams professional stock photography? Good grief. 😂
Well, it is the new year. A whole new batch of people who think they can do better than adobe. 🙄
When you go to piemags dot com, you have to login. You can’t even take a look around the site. Must be banking on the “there’s a sucker born every minute.”
-
We're a tough crowd. ;D
-
I wish you the best of luck with this project you are starting, and don't be put off by the ruthless criticism.
Good year!

That put me off immediately as well. A site that someone has to register for, before they can see anything about it?
We're a tough crowd. ;D
Maybe but not that tough that someone with some facts and information won't get a respectable reply and be shown something more than vapor, smooth talk and promises.
Seriously, if this is a site, they need to get things in order, before they come asking people to join and show us nothing?
I wish you the best of luck with this project you are starting, and don't be put off by the ruthless criticism.

This is not ruthless criticism, it's rational questioning of someone who drops in and promises the sky. "Our commission will start at 50% BUT our goal is for this to increase to 75% in the contributors' favour!" Of course people would be interested, but we need more facts about Piemags (whatever that means?) Contributors or buyers alike.

If the OP is so thin skinned that a few questions from once-bitten-twice-shy contributors scares them off, how on earth will the business fare when it hits all the inevitable difficulties of a start up?
In case the OP is now lurking, you need to drop this idea of "nothing to lose by joining us ". Contributors have a lot to lose by turning over their valuable content to an unknown business, not to mention the time it takes to upload files.
Any contributor with any intention to license their images long term already has the metadata embedded in their images; next to the quality and usefulness of the image, the metadata is the most valuable part of the asset. So for the experienced contributors, your keywording offer is irrelevant. For anyone new who hates keywording - those folks who uploaded to Wirestock and saw images from Portugal keyworded as if they were from New England - you are doing them no favor by putting irrelevant keywords on their work.
And you didn't mention marketing - how are you going to find buyers? If you don't have, or aren't willing to share your marketing plans, you won't attract any/many serious contributors.
And the name needs work...

100K doesn't sound overly big boy. I think Shutterstock spent something like $40 million a year in marketing to attract buyers. Why would buyers use your company over the dozens of others already out there? What's your plan for attracting buyers? Do you have some sort of innovative business model?
Forgive me for being a bit punchy, but you sound just like the dozens of other people over the years whose plan is just to "build a stock site" and we never hear from them again.
