Hi to all, i am newbie here, and don't know if it is fine to post messages like this here, but i will try, just want to shear with u ::)?!  Few days ago i have founded the SWISS microstock agency, i have thought that it will be interesting to someone. Here is the link to their website - www.swisstock.com

Looks cool to me.  :P

doesn't look cool to me .. looks more like a holder page for a site that hasn't even went online yet. I don't excited until a site can provide enough buyers to justify uploading to.

We, contributors need  good analysis about invested work, time and returns for each agency...

Everything without that is waste of our time...

You were sooo excited about a (yet another) site that isn't even running, that you took the time to register and post about an "under construction" page here?

Wow, that's enthusiasm.

OgR...shoot the people on this forum straight and they "might" be nicer...and from a simple marketing perspective, DON'T start soliciting a project until there is something to show...
most of the folks here are way more savy than you and i combined (hope i'm not insulting anyone on any level with that).

What the heck does the country it is located in, it's financial institutions or watchmakers in that country have to do with knowing how to run a stock photo library ???? You're not speaking to a bunch of naive children.

At this stage of the microstock game they will probably be a secondary footnote... Sorry to say, but things are shaping up here and it aint pretty for newcomers to a crowded dance.

Guys, I know that in a World WideWeb a heap of photo-stock agencies and only 5-7 of all the most popular and profitable, as a rule it those stocks which have appeared a very long time, and for all time in the network they have been changed a lot to reach full and competent work. But many of them, still got some problems that we don't like in them. We have got used to work with them already because this is our profit(or hobby for someone), and as first who make money are the owners of this stocks. Now the majority of stocks agencies is ignored simply by our requests on modification to simplify to us life, because they have already earned the money, system works properly(as they think so, but its not) and to they already especially it is not necessary to worry about us and our problems. I do not think that, in the near future can appear new stock agency resource which could not contain all those defects which are at those stocks, with we so have got used to work already, but I think that nevertheless it is necessary to try to affect a little a course of events, it is simple and it is elementary possible to try to write to this resources about our wishes which nevertheless they will consider, and it will be pleasant to ourselves to work, as there will be that we actually would like to see. And sorry about my spelling if it is wrong, i am russian  ::) and thanx for your attention.

^^^ Cutcaster is just about perfect for the contributor and I am sure the buyers would like them too.  The problem is finding enough new buyers to keep the contributors interested.  No site in the past few years has solved that problem and I doubt any new ones will, unless they find a completely different way to sell our images.  I do think the way we sell our images could be improved, why do I have to pay istock 80% of my earnings?  It is going to have to be something special to convince the contributors and buyers to use it.

Please don't just start up another microstock site.  It wont make us any money and will be a complete waste of time.  I am all for someone working out new ways for us to deal with buyers with reduced costs.  It has been discussed here a few times and I hope one day it will happen.

Yep!

There is hope for site like Cutcaster because new (or old) stock BID-ASK system....

But, I have to tell this again, premium collection isn't way to bring new costumer, that is maybe only for keeping existing...

New sites have to promote something better for buyers and contributors, but what?

I think that midstock need to clarify differences between their and microstock licenses...

http://www.cutcaster.com/viewmedia/view/100129630/Photo/A-Middle-Eastern-man-talking-on-a-mobile-phone-while-reading-a-n

^^^ There does seem to be some spurious results coming up on searches John. I just tried 'love' myself (so to speak!) and got a series of images of this castle;

http://www.cutcaster.com/viewmedia/view/100236966/Photo/An-monument-

It doesn't have 'love' in the keywords, which are accurate to the image, but nonetheless I got 7 images of the castle on the first page.

Pardon my reappearance but I got the same result. The reason is the compound keyword "loves one". The search algorithm triggers on hits of substrings, in this case "loves one". I notified John many months ago about this issue (which gives very weird search results) and he promised he would take care of it immediately. As with my previous email a year ago about the too limited size of the IFRAMES that gives me RSI when uploading, I got a nice reply and nothing got done at all.

Looking back at the image, the compound keyword "loves one" has gone between the first and this message on MSG so I guess John sneaked in and removed it. Wouldn't it be better to just address the issue fundamentally instead of patching images quickly when they get flagged in public?

Another image where this problem pops up is this one, searching for the keyword "sun": here. The reason is the compound keyword "sunlit office" that triggers the match on "sun". The shorter and the more general the keyword, the higher the chance you'll get false hits of course.

If I was a buyer, I would be fast out of Cutcaster, sorry to say so. Too much bad hits that aren't the fault of the contributor but of the defective search engine. Try "rat", and find this "corporate businessman" here. I learned the difference between str() and substr() functions in my second week programming class. Who is programming this site?

----------

Try to look for "Indian businessman" on CutCaster: the first and second results pages are full of Indian food dishes with no businessman at all in it. Not too surprisingly, most are from Moneybusinessimages that obviously struck a nice private deal with John for the front page that leaves us poor amateurs drooling for a sale every 2 months or so.

At the end of page 2 we see this image of a Caucasian fitnesser in the gym, hardly an Indian businessman. Follows a series of non-Indian businessmen on page 3, like this one and more of the same in a row on page 4.
