Hi there,

I had a look at your library and I think you should have stricter review, the quality of some clips are so so...
Also can you give more info about the  % commission you pay to artists, mode of payment,etc... Also do you plan to be integrated on the distribution platform Isyndica?

Thank you

Hi,

at the moment we only sell our own shot footage. We plan to license footage from other artists in a few month as well.
Commission will be 40% for each sold clip. Payment will be made each month with Paypal or bank transfer.

iSyndica is a next step maybe, but not planned atm.

Greetings from Germany!

Hi.

A few questions:

How much is a camera like that?
What computer hardware is preferred?
What software is needed?

Hi Magnum,

i don't really understand your question in detail. Please drop me a few more lines.

How much is a camera like that? -> What does a RED One cost? -> About 25.000$
http://www.red.com/store/red-one/product/red-one-s35-mysterium-x [nofollow]

What computer hardware is preferred? -> For what to do exactly - using r3d files? ->
You can use a Windows PC or a Mac. We prefer Mac, because the files are easier to handle.
But i also work wirh r3d files on a PC AMD Quadcore with Windows 7 64bits, 8GB Ram. You dont need a high end machine. If you encode the 4K files into another format (e.g. FotoJPG) as proxy, you can work on a dualcore system and for the final rendering just turn proxies off.

What software is needed?
-> To work with r3d files? -> http://www.red.com/support [nofollow]
You can download the free software REDCINE-X for Windows and Mac to convert your r3d file in every codec you have installed on your system.
To work with 10bits depth we encode it to Apple ProResHQ422. Adobe After Effects CS5 for example supports r3d natively.

If you need more informations, keep me posted.

You did understand correct.     I thought this was a RED only agency...

Thanks for the info.

 Hi All,

A fully set up Red with prime lenses and racking focus as well as a strong enough fluid head and sticks not to mention continuos lighting or dolly work. You are looking at about 60K+ minimum. I have shot with the Red and it is not a pick up and shoot camera, there is a definite learning curve. The software is the best part as it is very intuitive but the camera with the batts. and all the equipment needed to create strong motion clips is going to set you back a pretty penny and it moves much slower than a DSLR with motion. The prime lenses alone will hit your bank account hard.

Best,
Jonathan

This is not a speculative shoot camera. If you have an account that pays for the camera and other equipment, you could probably justify the expense of shooting for microstock, but otherwise, i think the market for microstock footage is moving away from these specs, not towards it. These cameras are aimed more at the panavision market, not the dslr market. There is a fabled "scarlet" camera in the works, at a much lower price point, but it's been put off many times. And you still have the issue of the other equipment. Although, this camera with a good prime lens can be magical. the images on this site don't do justice to what this camera can do.

Happy new year!  :)

You don't have to shoot on RED to sell at our website. If you have good footage, just send us an email.

Since this site is almost all people who sell stock photo/footage and only occasionally do stock buyers hang around here you may be in the wrong place.  Also the idea that someone could download a file and then continue to use it forever in an unlimited capacity is just outrageous, you really would have to pay a huge commission to get anyone to submit to a site that has absolutely no terms and conditions on how the footage can be used, I have never heard of a business model like that.  I usually wish new agencies success, but I have to say I hope this sales model doesn't succeed. We are already giving up so much with RF and then to have unlimited lifetime use... I don't see how this could be sustainable for the agency either?
