Hi dudes!

I have received news about a new microstock agency: STOCKFUNNY
They want to market with great force, with a powerful advertising and promotion budget, with prices cheaper than usual and with better commissions for photographers than the rest.

And best of all, we do not have to spend the tiresome task of uploading our portfolio to the web, they take care of it. Simply register and create an account from here: http://bit.ly/nnwXIM then send a DVD by mailpost with all our images properly metadata tagged. You need to contact them at [email protected] to request the address where to send the DVDs.

Of course, if you don't want to send DVDs, you can also upload your photos directly from your private area.

Currently the site is closed to the public, is finalizing the design and programming some features.

I've already sent mine and they are online. Now have to wait and see how the agency works, but at least I only lost an hour to record the pictures and go to the post office to send the packet :D

Cheers!

"This is awesome.

I have used this system for years and made ten times the amount of my initial investment.

I can't start to tell you how great this system works for you. It's just amazing.

You just give us stuff and we give you stuff back, and we do that all the time, as if it was normal or something.

I tell you it's totally great and you must do it because if you don't do it you won't get anything.

OMG I wish everyone could do this because then, everyone would be so rich and make so much money that they could buy all the stuff they want.

You seriously expect contributors to click on a shortened URL to create an account with password for an "agency" that does not provide any information upfront except that we can mail DVDs to an address that will be revealed if we send an email to the contributors@... account?

Seriously?

Hi click_click,
that site is not mine, I have used that shorten URL because is the one I have used in Twitter.
This is the complete URL: http://www.stockfunny.com/es/registro.aspx/?idcdf=1012

I have told you to write "[email protected]" because is the way they told me.
I sent my DVD to:
STOCKFUNNY
C/Marqus de San Esteban, 21 - 4 floor
33206 - Gijn - Asturias - SPAIN

But maybe it's better to contact them to confirm that's the proper address.

Looks to me like you are just posting a referral for yourself?
From http://stockfunny.com/ :

"StockFunny the microstock site where amateur and professional photographers find a place to sell their creations to all web developers, marketing and advertising at the best price, with a management system and incorporation of material prevents quick and simple administration jobs to post their creations for sale."

What ever that means?  And with a name like stockfunny how could it not be legit?

I think PhotoPhishing would be a better name.

Is it ok if I send them my DVD (with all my unwatermarked images) by UPS Ground or should it be air mail?  Should I include my VISA nsumber?

People are lazy. At least if we're supposed to dump our images into this "agency" it would be great to read some more details about their operations.

- Content usage agreement is in Spanish - I don't speak Spanish, sorry. I could handle German or French but not Spanish.
- They want your "tax number" what is that? Social security?
- The whole site is poorly translated into English

Even after trying to browse the site with the help of Google Translate I couldn't figure out what the commission for contributors is.

This is way to cumbersome to deal with.

Their logo is first serious reason why not to upload without reading anything else about them.
Many microstock sites have logo that is not good but this one is first one that let ten years old kid to design it.

I think you'll find most people in this forum can spot a promotional pitch for a referral link at a thousand paces...

Try the forum at:

instead.  ;)

Boy, these names just get worse and worse.  And "prices cheaper than usual" - awesome!  I know everyone here wants prices to be cheaper than usual.  And an aperture for a logo - wow!

Oops I corrected that to "PhotoPhishing" but I think you got the idea.

It's such a stupid name, I'm not even going to bother looking.  It would be a good name for a site selling jokes but it's one of the worst I have heard of for a stock images site.

To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone would announce a new site on here. I sure wouldn't. Everybody is so rude and condescending of any new site mentioned. I'm not saying I know anything about this site or am interested in joining, but is it so hard to just say "no thanks" or "I'm not interested".

I guess the other sites are treating us so well that we don't need to care about new start ups.  ???

When someone has the best new site name since SnapVillage and is so utterly clueless about the new business they purport to be starting, they're going to get dumped on.

This doesn't even rise to the level of a serious attempt. There's a reason why people are rude about some of these new sites - they're flat out insulting to contributors, even if unintentionally. You could view it as this forum doing them a favor - get given the brutal truth now versus getting egg on their face in a broader setting.

I did go look at the front page. On top of all the other problems already noted, the photo sucks. If you're going to pitch yourself for selling stock, you need to have something drop dead gorgeous on the front page.

Is it just me, or do microstock contributors seem have this image of ppl so clueless, they can be robbed in broad daylight?

My point was that all new or lesser known sites get dumped on here (regardless of merit). Constructive criticism is one thing, but people pick fights with owners of companies or just a general lack of basic respect. Eventually, they'll have no reason to even bother engaging potential contributors here.

I assumed it was just a dumb scam, or another half-baked attempt that would just waste everyone's time.  If I was wrong, I apologize.

As jsnover said, it's almost insulting how unprepared and not serious some of these new 'agencies' are when they decide to come in and start posting.  Almost ridiculous names, no workflow, no knowledge of the industry, etc.  If people want to pick on them for assuming we're all lemmings waiting to put content on anything with a .com, go for it.

There have been hundreds of new sites that have gone nowhere since I started this.  The ones that are professional and put everything in to it still get my support.  The rest are taking money away from us.  People will never see their money, as it's almost impossible to reach the payout levels.  They don't attract many buyers but if there's 500 tiny sites with a few buyers, that's still a lot of money that we never see.

I'm surprised that the vast majority of these new sites have shown no imagination, following the exact business plan that has failed for so many before.  I'm highly suspicious that something is going on here, why would people go in to this market with a flawed business plan?  When you add a joke name on top of those problems, they really deserve contributors wrath.

To make me interested, come up with something different.  Chose a great name.  Get rid of payout limits.  Make the site look attractive to buyers and give them a reason to use it.  Explain to us why this site will work when so many have failed.

Hi friends,
yes I'm agree that the whole design style, logo, web, etc is not the best in the world maybe. They told me that they are working on it, that's only a sketch. But, you have an example with Canstockphoto, I think their design is horrible but I'm selling many licenses there, that's the most important for me :)

I have post this thread because I think it's an opportunity to enter a new site without any effort. If it doesn't work, OK, you haven't loose any time, but if it works (obviously in other level than Shutter, iStock...) I think it will have been well worth it.

All of us are free to decide what we do, but I think we should be respectful of the work and efforts of others, even if we don't like it.

Sorry for my english :)
