A relatively new site is StockRiot. Here is my referral link:

   StockRiot

They started September 2007. Their goal is to provide photographers an outlet to sell stock photos at reasonable prices and with reasonable commissions. The commission on sales is 50%. The sales prices for digital photo are:

$2 Small (800 pixels on the shortest side)
$6 Medium (1250 pixels on the shortest side)
$15 Large (original size, minimum 1600)

The sales prices for illustration are based on complexity and range from:

$3 Simple to
$20 Complex

There is a referral program in place with 10% commission on every image purchased by referred clients for a full year.

I like the design and feel of the site. Here is one of there banner ads:

Yes! yet another one to ponder.

One thing for it - the site seems fast to load.

On a very quick look, they seem to have a very small photo inventory. It looks pretty poor for being around since fall 2007. On Hoilday images, usually a huge catagory for stock and one that pays the bils for the site, there are only 35 photos and a lot of them are crap. THeir "most popular" also seem to be a little lackluster.

In the category Landscapes & Nature, again only 493 photos. C'mon, where are all the flower photo dumpers? Again. looking at the ranking of Most Popular, some are a real bore.

Not discounting everything totally, but they don't even seem to have good contributor traffic.

I wish you luck with it though. Let us know how things go.

Nice. A site that is almost completely useless on a Mac in Safari, the most popular system for designers. Very nice.

Pass, thanks.

I know many Mac-Users none of them use Safari (Firefox seems to be the way to go). The site looks nice the have a valid adress and pricing and commission is also good in general much better than all the other new starters recently (albumo for example) but i guess too they are too late to join the ship.

Funny, I've learnt about this site from its beginning.  One of the owners (http://www.stockriot.com/view_photog.php?photogid=2) is/was from SP and emailed me inviting me to join.  I sent my test photos and never got a reply from them.  It doesn't even recognize my email address as a member.  :-\

Regards,
Adelaide

I think (of course I might confusing him with someone else) Yuri also has a staff of people to upload for him so it's really not a detriment to him to try these new sites.

I'm working on whittling down to 3-4 of the existing top sites and then concentrating on those and midstock.  No more experimenting with new micro sites for me.  However, if a new midstock site like Photoshelter were to come along, I would probably take a serious look at them.

Thanks Oboy. I will sign up with your link, but not sure if I'll ever upload there. Let's first see what the reported results are here... Of the beginning sites, I'm quite happy with Zymmetrical right now, and being too promiscuous sitewise can give a bad impression to those customers that Google ;-)

Update (stockriot.com): Forbidden

a sign at the web site says they have closed. A site died and didn't even know it was out their. I stay current and somehow missed this site completely. A sure sign there are too many sites.

I just received this email from StockRiot:

Quote
Dear StockRiot Contributors,

It is with great disappointment that we have decided to take StockRiot offline, effective immediately. Due to the state of the economy, we feel that this is not the right time to attempt our long-planned advertising campaign. Therefore, after much thought we are closing our doors with the hope that we may resurrect StockRiot when the economy is more forgiving.

We thank you for your time and contributions. All accounts will be settled via paypal before January. 31, 2009.  If money is owed to you and you have not received your payment by this date, please email us to ensure that we have your correct information.

Our sincerest thanks for all your comments, suggestions and support.

The StockRiot team.

Goodbye StockRiot!

Just got the same email.  At least it'll save me some time in maintaining my stats.

http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=0

Almost 8% market share... with the Mac at about the same market share... I would say that it means that almost all Mac users use Safari.

UPDATE: But I now see it's an old story  ;)

Only 16 months, is that a new record? Sites that promised to be opening and never went live don't count.
