Has anyone heard of this place? Looking around some photo forums sites and I happened to see this banner.

The main site entrance is http://totallycoolpix.com

The submitter application entrance is: http://totallycoolpix.com/are-you-a-photographer/

What they say:

We are always on the lookout for more totally cool pix. No matter what the subject, as long as there is a connection between or a story behind your images we are interested. It can be about architecture, inner city life, animal close ups, slow, images with a common theme (colour, event, national holiday, religion) and so on. The minimum number of images we are looking for in one set is 15. The ideal number would be 20 to 25 or higher.

In return for the (non-exclusive) use of your images we giv e you between $100-150, a link back to your website and the change to show off your work to thousands of people from around the world. And who knows, your images might get noticed by the likes of Reuters.    ???

Thanks for the link! The site has a respectable PR of 3 and is hosted in the Netherlands. Cubestat info.

For us folks that do travel photography and editorial (mostly with a good story), it might be a fine outlet, since main stream media are looking for this kind of cheap content all the time. The only negative point is the absence of any real business info.

"And who knows, your images might get noticed by the likes of Reuters."

When someone here says they actually got paid $100 or more for a set of 15 to 25 newsworthy images, I'll take a more serious look. They do have some nice sets of images and good newsworthy topics and shots.

Second part that makes me wonder is from their application page: Lets call this, find the typos in the sentence: "In return for the (non-exclusive) use of your images we giv e you between $100-150, a link back to your website and the change to show off your work to thousands of people from around the world."

That's a cut and paste. If someone can't read their own page, it makes me wonder how professional the site is.

OK so anyone actually get paid by them? That's all that counts for me. Bottom Line, not promises, Reuters might notice, fame or photo credits. Show Me The Money!
