Hi,

I'd like to ask some first questions as I can't find that infos:

1. Can client zoom the image? I can't find that option.
2. Do you read IPTC data? I already spent a lot of time preparing my images and add IPTC on all files. Hard of work. There are many new sites which don't read IPTC and that means another work for me everytime I get in to new site. Wasting time mostly.
3. Want to make sure. Do I understand correct that I can set up my prices and I always get 50%? (like Pond5 offers).
4. What about your clients? Who and where are they? Do you focus on any special direction? Did you start advertising project?
5. Do you sell images through partners and re-sellers and do I have option opt in/ opt out?
6. Can I upload images by FTP?
7. What is the review time for uploaded batch of images (lets say 5-100 files)? Are there any limits in quantity or time?
8. What about exclusivity? Do you require it?
9. What is the minimum payout threshold and how long does it take?

Thank you for reply.

4. We have many big client coming on board with us soon.
5.  No we don't sell images through partners and re sellers, Yes you can opt/in opt out,
6. You can batch upload drag and drop as many files as you like in one hit.
7. Between 24 - 48 hours at this stage. No limitation
8. No, you can upload your content elsewhere, you are just using UltimatStock to further promote your work.
9. $20 as a minimum payout, within 5 business days.

We are still in developing stages of our company and we welcome users to upload, and test the platform. We are currently in the process of adding further information on our site. We are located in Melbourne, Australia. We are a team of Photographers and Filmmakers who have been working with software developers, and marketing teams based in the U.S to launch this venture. Hope this explains your questions. Kind Regards :)

I thought I give it a try and uploaded 5 images. But I already gave up (for now) after keywording the first one...

Only 5 keywords allowed?  ???
But mandatory fields for Source, Camera, Country and more?  :'(

I dont believe many people will go through all that trouble...

Hi Desiren,

I was thinking of some official info, company name, exact address etc...you are a new business partner and if I have sales I cannot tell my accountant it came from a group in Australia :)

I'll send a few files to test your system. 50% is fair trade, so I'll have a look.

I decided to upload 10 images just to say I support you, but the upload process is not difficult, but impossible and unnecessary complicated!

Who will loose 10 sec per images to upload in new website, nobody for sure. I have 10K images and will not spend 28 hours for this upload :)

In this days is obligatory automatic metadata extract and fast submission. Even category selection would stop me!

And the contact address is very important for the trust.

I really don't care if I upload to a garage or an apartment as long as you SELL!  8)

In addition to the comments already made (and I'd emphasize adding IPTC support, not just looking at it - almost no one with a substantial portfolio will consider cut and pasting title, description and keywords):

You have a number of exercise images (isolated, female) and they all say "No" to model released. These clearly need a model release, so it's possibly a bug that they say they don't have one, but if you want buyers to consider your site, they'll need to know that images are properly released (i.e. safe for them to use commercially).

Your terms are in all caps. This makes it unbelievably hard to read - please fix this

http://www.ultimatstock.com/terms

Some of the text makes so little sense, I'm wondering if it was lifted from other documents and not edited. For example:

"THE USER SHALL AUTHORISE USERS TO ACCESS ULTIMATSTOCK IN ITS ABSOLUTE DISCRETION. THE COMPANY ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY FOR ACCESS TO USER CONTENT BY USERS AUTHORISED BY THE USER OR USING LOGIN DETAILS OF USERS AUTHORISED BY THE USER"

And in the section (E) titled SOLUTION:

"ULTIMATSTOCK IS THE PRODUCT DESCRIBED IN THE PARTICULARS.
ULTIMATSTOCK IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE TO THE USER FOR THE TERM SET OUT IN THE PARTICULARS."

Then there's something odd in the "Fees" section:

"THE COMPANY MAY INTRODUCE NEW SERVICES WITH CORRESPONDING FEES BY GIVING THE USER WRITTEN NOTICE OF THEIR AVAILABILITY AND APPLICABILITY."

As user is defined at the top as "USER MEANS ANY CONTRIBUTOR OR PURCHASER THAT USES ULTIMATSTOCK." I wonder what sort of fees you might be thinking of. Or is this just a general "we can change anything at any time" notice?

You say that termination of the agreement is by written notice and is effective in 14 days - does  that mean that contributors cannot delete their own content at any time? If not, why not?

You let someone download a watermarked comp without being logged in in a size larger than your extra small - 646  968 in the case of the images of a woman in sweats. It's a very light watermark for such a large size comp.

Some of the keywording is very bad. I know you're relying on contributors to do this, but if you don't insist (you inspect, no?) on useful and relevant keywords, your site will fail. As an example, I think this is a picture of an orangutan (which is an ape, not a monkey) with the keywords monkey, animal, bananna (sic)

http://www.ultimatstock.com/contentDetail?content.contentId=102&content.title=monkey

Even if banana were spelled correctly, I don't see one anywhere in the image.

There's an image titled "Female and male having a conversation". I searched for man woman talking but there are no results - because the keywords on this image are only: couple, talking, communication, team, working

http://www.ultimatstock.com/contentDetail?content.contentId=149&content.title=Female%20and%20male%20having%20a%20conversation

Aside from details, I'm still not clear about why a buyer might use your agency - let's assume you gather a decent quantity of content. How are you different from Stockbo? Or Photocase? Or Pond5? I can set my own price at Pond5 and they've been around a while longer - can you offer me something as a selling platform that they can't?

I am very interested in alternatives to the established agencies, but you aren't really making the case for why contributors should give you their content?

Hello, thank you everyone for your feedback. I will be talking with team members and developers, on current issues and experiences. Isolated images mentioned previously do require a release without a doubt, they are shots taken by another team member before releases were available. We are still in the early stages and any feed back is highly appreciated.

We're sorry you may have found it difficult to understand our terms &
conditions.

They weren't copied, they were prepared for us by our lawyers. We apologise
as our development team has capitalised the terms as part of turning them
into plain-text. This may have made some of the items more difficult to
understand as defined terms that would be "Capitalised" are not obvious.

*"THE USER SHALL AUTHORISE USERS TO ACCESS ULTIMATSTOCK IN ITS ABSOLUTE
DISCRETION. THE COMPANY ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY FOR ACCESS TO USER CONTENT
BY USERS AUTHORISED BY THE USER OR USING LOGIN DETAILS OF USERS AUTHORISED
BY THE USER"*

If the user authorises others to use their account, it's their
responsibility and not Ultimatstock's. This is quite straightforward -
"User" and "user" should be easier to distinguish if not in capitals.

"ULTIMATSTOCK IS THE PRODUCT DESCRIBED IN THE PARTICULARS.
ULTIMATSTOCK IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE TO THE USER FOR THE TERM SET OUT IN THE
PARTICULARS."

This makes it clear what Ultimatstock is, and that the User can only access
it for the term set out in the particulars. In your instance, this is
granted until the agreement ends.

"THE COMPANY MAY INTRODUCE NEW SERVICES WITH CORRESPONDING FEES BY GIVING THE
USER WRITTEN NOTICE OF THEIR AVAILABILITY AND APPLICABILITY."

Yes, over time we may introduce new fees for different services. If we do
so, we'll give you notice that they exist and how they apply. This is what
all businesses do. You won't be charged anything without knowing about it
and agreeing to it.

"USER MEANS ANY CONTRIBUTOR OR PURCHASER THAT USES ULTIMATSTOCK."

This is the correct definition of "User".

*You say that termination of the agreement is by written notice and is
effective in 14 days - does  that mean that contributors cannot deletetheir
own content at any time? If not, why not?*

Termination of this Agreement has nothing to do with removing content.
However as you agree that we may sell the content on your behalf, deleting
content won't invalidate its use by other Users that have purchased it.

Beta- no IPTC--- I will wait... 8)

Right, stock site without IPTC reading is just not ready. Who will waste time for testing new site which is so time consuming? Most of us prepared images with iptc data to not waste time over and over again with every new site. Upload must be easy and fast this days. We have a lot of work to do with "expanding portfolios" ;)
Btw. Lately I get invitations 1-5 times in a week. Is there new trend? New site must be really amazing, must offer something really exceptional to find authors and get clients from competition sites (big players).

At this stage, payments made to contributors are through PayPal, we will also be implementing other payment methods in the near future for both contributors and buyers.

Bad move. Only paypal = no contribution from me. Get a proper payment processor.

Missing IPTC as well is a knockout argument. Those two points you should have addressed even before going beta. Many will exclude you only for IPTC or Paypal.

I will keep an eye on you. If you do not offer IPTC + a reliable payout method within the next month I will naturally stop paying attention and only re consider uploading if the community reports significant sales (difficult for a newcomer).

As cobalt said, it would help to put a proper street address and tax/VAT Id on your site. Starting up a company is not the moment to be shy  8) You wanna look professional and gain trust. "We are from Melbourne" is not enough.

Beyond that: Good luck guys! I hope you take it as constructive criticism :-)

No. IS, Pond5, DT, Deposit, 123rf, Envato,...and almost any stock site offers meanwhile payoneer and in some cases SWIFT as an option....other places like e.g. Airbnb, Elance, Odesk offer Payoneer (and sometimes SWIFT) as a option too.

So far only SS and FT do not have a proper payout method. When you are big you do not have to listen to the guys down there anymore, right?

Decided to give you a try and uploaded 15 files as a test.  Here are some thoughts and comments:

1)You dearly need a batch editing system, far too tedious to edit each file one at a time.  No volume contributors will waste that much time.
2) I shoot with Pentax k-5 and k-3, which shows up in the IPTC, but you generate an error "no special characters"  because of the dash. Not my fault, that's the name of the camera but now I have to edit each time.  And this defeats the purpose I suppose since the camera name is now wrong.
3) The tag field on edit is too small, it only shows a small portion of the tags.  Field should be sizable like the description field.
4) You should count tags and indicate how many are present so contributor knows how many more to add.
5) Should be able to set defaults for some fields, like editorial, source, country etc.  Give option to change but 90% of time the defaults will work.
6) Country?  What on earth is the point of this?  Is it the country I am in? The country the image was taken in?  To have to select this for every image is silly.  At the least default to what the photographer set in account.
7) Editorial should be "editorial only"?? I think.  Again this should have a default.  I never shoot editorial yet I have to select it each time?

Would like to support you and I have about 5,000 images currently available on microstock as RF.  But the time involved in uploading them at present is too high.  In the time I uploaded and worked through 15 images on your site I uploaded and submitted 20 images to 5 sites.

In short, your workflow needs improvement if you want to attract serious stock photographers.
