Hi all,

anyone had experienced with vectorstock?

There is an old thread but would like to get some recent feedback.

I read the FAQ even the vector should price with complexity, but it seems mostly vector are 1 credits. For new contributors, it is 25% so u got like $0.25..

do u get something more than $0.25 often (like extended license)?

thanks.

I've basically stopped uploading there recently, or limited my uploads to my least complex images. It doesn't really matter how detailed an image is, they still pretty much always price them at 1 credit. I contacted them a while back about it, and the response I got was that they believe they'll generate more income for contributors by keeping the prices lower and generating more frequent sales. So far, I'm not seeing much to suggest that the strategy is working. I hit a payout every couple of months, but it's not enough to warrant any added effort.

If they at least put some images at 3 or 5 credits, I'd probably be more inclined to give them more of a chance. But at 1 credit, I'm not sending much new work their way.

i notice that there are some 3 and 5 credits vector, but the download number is much lower.

and many 1 credits vector is not a simple vector at all.

anyway, what i know is the buyer only need to buy minimum 20 credits. That's mean 20 vectors at one time?

do they accept simple vector? i got some rejections when i tried to pass their exams because of the vector is not meeting their expectations.

Pretty much the same, they can be really inconsistent with their pricing. Very complex stuff one credit, but I have a few less complex things for 3. Overall almost everything gets 1 credit, and at with ultra low percentage cut not really a site to be getting behind.
They should really increase both their prices and contributor cut, till then no new uploads from me.

in shutterstock the on demands and EL makes a lot of differences, and the subs download volume is many enough. how about in vectorstock?

I've hit one payout with some very old images, but they're not getting any of my good stuff till prices are $5 at least. $1 is a joke.
I'm considering splitting up some of my sets into way smaller sets for VS, to try to make up for the loss of earnings at IS in 2011.

Vectorstock hasn't really gotten the high volume of sales that I hoped for, given the low prices. I could live with the 30 cents per sale if the volume was there, and it would also be easier to climb the ranks and get those higher pay percentages faster. But so far, it hasn't panned out for me.

Their review process is also a bit of a joke.  I have images in pending there since September.  They've rejected most of the stuff I've given to them and what gets me is that in the rejection email they give a link to the most downloaded image for you to use as a guideline for what they want.  Hello?  How about some diversity.  Most I've gotten there in a month is 14 downloads which I could deal with better if they'd actually spend some time reviewing the files they've got in pending.

And I agree we can't move up if they can't bring the sales.  Had high hopes when I joined in the first part of the year but am very disappointed that it hasn't produced what I thought the site could do.

Vectorstock has some good and bad things about it.
:-[ On the bad side, you have to resize your thumbnails to dimensions which no other stock agency uses. And, of course, the 1 credit issue, mentioned above.

:) On the good side, VS pays faster than any other site. Sometimes on the same day you request payment. And the site is fast and pretty easy to use.

Oh forgot about that, and don't they have a lower maximum cap on keywords then the standard 50?
(it's been a while since I uploaded)

Yep they're at 30 maximum keywords which makes it hard sometimes to figure out what words to cut out and which we think are the most important.

the thumbnails requirements is something they should remove it, or make a thumbnail generation system like some website do.

my files are still pending for quite some times, do we have to generate thumbnails for the ftp transfer option too?

are contributors able to delete own files anytime?

I'm waiting ten days - one illustration was approved in ten minutes, rest is still pending.
I'm not sure if pending really means pending or rejected as I see no "rejected" folder.  :-\

God why is this crappy site still around?? Its the most offensive site out there for contributors. You guys really need to stop contributing to this bs site even if its a hobby for u guys since it creates the impression to the general uninformed public that you can get vectors for dirt cheap and time spent creating them isnt valuable. you are really working for pennies. Sites like these really hurt professionals in the long run.

I've got some waiting there since September.  Not going to deal with support as they'll just reject them all anyway  :-\  Used to be like every 2 weeks then once a month but this is just getting obnoxious.  I think I am done trying to upload there.  It's a PITA to upload and the preview size is not up to par.

Pending is just that pending not reviewed and not rejected.  They don't have a rejected folder coz once they reject it I'm sure it's deleted from their system.  As far as I know there's no way to delete your own images (haven't really tried either).

They should also lower the minimum payout.  At this rate it's gonna take me 10 years to reach $100.

I think I'll just regard vectorstock as a dollar-bin site going forward. If I have an image that I really think is worth just $1, I might upload it. Other than that, I think I'm ready to give up hope that this site will ever grow into anything worthwhile. I had hoped that things would improve there, as the site grew they might reassess pricing, etc., but no progress has been made.

Seems it's better to quit uploading. Life is too short to spend hours by creating strange previews and shorter to wait weeks for approval and years for payout.  :-\
