We're making changes to the way people can upload to the Superhug marketplace. This is to accommodate all those who have recently signed up to sell their stock images. There's been frenzied debate in the office about which noun to choose to describe those who license their images.
Where better to ask than here?
All input warmly received, thank you. :)

I don't care.
In the other thread there have been numerous suggestions what you need to do to make your site attractive for contributors (photographers, artists,..., you name it...).
Work on these first. They're all 100% more important.

We're on i t, dirkr. Thanks for your candour - it's hugely appreciated.

I'm guessing the people who have answered "photographer" are.... photographers. So maybe that should not be on the list as you will be selling work from photographers and illustrators/ designers. If you had "illustrator" on the list a few would click that too, but it's not much use as a generic name for all uploaderermificators as clearly the photographers wouldn't want to be called illustrators :-\ or something like that
-
Photo-illustrator
-
You're safe with "contributor" because it covers anything people may contribute in the future.
Although, this kind of shows that you jumped into something you weren't really ready to deal with, along with all the other issues.
-
Illustrator :)
-
Photo-illustrator
Phillostrator? Philistine? Dr Phil?
-
Thanks everyone :)
Kicking myself for having missed "uploaderermificator" from the poll ;)

I don't care as long as it's not what the wife usually calls me :'(

Be different and call us something that will put us in our place upfront, like...
- Plebeians;
- Soldiers; or just simply
- Ants
Oh, oh...
PLEBOGRAPHER!
You can use it in the following context as an example:
"To view the plebographer's profile, click HERE". Then when the buyer clicks on the link they get a pop up screen saying "we are redirecting you back to the homepage because plebographers aren't important"
-
Master of Awesomeness, Creative Czar, Cartoon King, Lord of Illustration, Don of Doodles. I think any of those would probably be sufficient. ;D
-
Master of Awesomeness
I'd actually love being called that by an agency, it would most certainly boost my motivation :)
And the stats section would read
Buyers: 200.000
Photographers: 6000
Masters of Awesomeness: 3000

busy bees : ))

Ah, the bliss of domesticity ;)

Ouch! Right. Work to be done to make the very people marketplaces depend upon feel important again then. Got it. ;)

I've requested our Devs consider a drop-down menu based on what kind of creative mood users might be in at any given time. They've told me to hurry up and wait for a response. I think they were impressed by the idea ;)

If we hit 200k buyers I'll personally change the bio of every controbutor/photographer/uploaderermificator/Phillostrator/busy-bee to Master of Awesomeness. I promise.

I think everyone should be called Super Huggy Sweety Bears __ and you could be Big Chief Huggy Sweety Bear.
-
Profitable.
-
Ma'am ;) ;D
(actually, I realise that's not remotely funny in the US)
-
I call myself an illustrator but you should call me a contributor
-
I'd like to be called photographer but if I were an illustrator I would like to be called illustrator, so contributor is fine
However, if you give me 70+ % forever and a lot of sales you can even call me names

:D
I'd agree with that! :D
I like 'Photographer' too, but as others have said, it won't work for Illustrators.
'Contributor' seems the only feasible option - as it seems to have become the accepted norm, although I'd actually prefer 'Creator', because it shares it's root with 'creative' (not because I think I'm God...).
-
I would like to be called a philanthropic millionaire, but while this does not happen, "contributor" would be fine. ;D
-
Freelancer.

3D Generalist

I had a model tell me today that I should be called "Daddy".
I'd like to be called "Daddy" as long as it isn't prefixed by "Sugar" or "Mack"
...just "Daddy" is fine with me.
