what i like about totallyphotos

S.:
I like a lot that they give you a personal comment on every photo you submit, even on approved photos! These comment can let you shot a better photo next times!

...the only problem is that they have very few customers :(

suwanneeredhead:
Well that might be true but they are "up and coming..." and besides, did you take a look at the prices?  They are not a "dollar site" like IS and BigStock.

I love the critiquing that the approvers do, and now i am one of them.  We are now debating whether approvers should just let all the junk through just to build the portfolio, or be as stringent as the other microstock sites so that they build a reputation for quality (at those prices, they better, its hard to build a good reputation but its REALLY easy to get a bad one!).

Y'all check it out, its a great site and I pray it builds its customer base really quickly... the payout is awesome.

Ciao Stepunk!

I'm a submitter at TP also and it's been a great experience.  I'm totally pro a very stringent quality control, otherwise the site does not have a future.  So far I never had an unfair rejection.

Had a quick look but didn't get all the answers.  If you can help out with the following:

50% of $10-25 is that right?
FTP Upload?
upload limits?
does it read exif data?
How strict is quality control - as hard as istock or more like ?? ?
And most importantly, what are sales volumes like?

edit: and do they have a referal program?  link please.

right

> FTP Upload?

no

> upload limits?

5 images in queue, more if requested (and I suppose if you have a high approval rate)

> does it read exif data?

Yes and no.  I suppose you mean IPTC for title/description/keywords, it does, but you have to edit because description field is limited and so is keywords, which have to be adjusted as well (double quotes for composed words, removing plurals).

> How strict is quality control - as hard as istock or more like ??

I would say that are less picky but still very strict in quality - I have no complaints on the rejections I had, unlike at iStock.  However, there are some complaints that they became more strict when they've opened the approval to contributors.  I, for one, am very picky.  :)

> And most importantly, what are sales volumes like?

It seems low, but then the site doesn't have a huge portfolio.

There is no referral I know of.
