Hi Again

Another quick question.  Everyone seems to be keen on promoting their various referral links to these sites - is it a bit earner?  Do you actually earn much cash via this route?

Thanks

J

If you click on my referal link and subscribed...then a certain % goes to me from your sales. That's how they work. Unless you refer someone you won't get any money or credits. All sites work differently. There's also buyers links where anyone who purchases through your link...you earn a %

The only site that brings me few cents is Dreamstime :-)

it depends on what you are doing jwsc101. putting a link to a microstock portfolio anywhere you get the chance online is certainly worth doing if it is only going to take a minute or so to cut an paste a link. But the amount you earn will depend on lots of things, the number of people who see it and who they are being the biggest factors. e.g. if you have a blog about photography, then its not all that likely that photographers will actually buy your photos, they'll be interested in looking but not buying so you probably won't earn that much (if anything), conversely if someone finds an image you post on a site in google images then a link near by with "license this image" - even if just a generic link to your entire portfolio might earn a few sales.

If you join iStock's referral program you make $10 for each referred buyer - not a big earner, but always a welcome little bonus!

The cheeky bugger who put his SS referral link on the Fred Miranda photography, forum back in 2004, has already benefited to the tune of $3K-odd from me alone.  However he did me a much bigger favour by informing me about microstock when it was just exploding on to the scene.

Feels good to share doesn't it!

Right, can everyone now please go to my blog page www.microstockselling.com and click on every referral link you can find!  Currently just Dreamstime and Graphic Leftovers.

You are all too kind!

Hi,
My name is Jarod Quistambyble and if you send me 100$ 49.99$, I will send you a bunch of referral links so you can start earning up to 1,000,000$ per week by just uploading your CSF card.  ;D
(the time for contributor referrals is over - everybody on the planet with a cam knows about microstock already - try to get buyers)

Bit late for stills referrals perhaps but video is still growing.  Pond5 have a decent referral scheme but they only last 1 year from sign up.

I have reduced mine to three agencies and I don't expect anyone to ever sign up using one of them. (yet they are still on the bottom of my messages) Of the people who did sign up with SS none have ever passed the exam or maybe never tried. I was hoping some day to go through a drive-through and spend my earnings on a lunch with a beverage. :D

The other two are 3DStudio and Mostphoto, which should accent the point that I'm not really trying. It was just there and there's hope that some day, someone will sign up for SS and upload something. It would be entertaining and amusing.

Depends on who you refer, and it's much harder to get new referrals these days since most of the people who would generate any decent earnings for you already know about microstock. But if you get a good one, it can be profitable. I have 1 referral at SS and he earns me about $7 per day.

Just the one, James, they signed up to Dreamstime using my referral link. Their profile talks of landscape photography in Scotland and Yorkshire so I had high hopes for sales of dramatic mountain scenes and craggy Yorkshire dales. Months on - not a single image online! There isn't even a test you have to pass at DT so I guess they just lost interest (or their images weren't as dramatic as I had envisaged). Still, I live in hope. Regards, David.

Many thanks for that, James! I wish you fantastic sales there (obviously). Now you do promise to actually upload something don't you? Regards, David.
