Title: Beginners Guide for Illustrators?
Post by: dog8food on August 27, 2011, 15:24
The resources on this site are really helpful.

Are there beginners guides for illustrators? I'm just getting started and I'm looking for info from formatting to marketing. If anyone can point me to some resources I'd greatly appreciate it!

Good Question?

Anyone have a getting started guide for Vectors and Illustrations? I'd be interested in reading it, even though I'll never create one myself.

There's some good info at www.illustrationinfo.com (http://www.illustrationinfo.com), Cory Thoman's site. It covers microstock basics and has some basic illustrator tutorials - may be a good place to start. A lot of microstock methodology and workflow is trial and error - and sometimes best to find out for yourself on subjects like exclusivity, subject matter, return per image, etc. Everyone's situation, talent, and lived experience is a bit different.

Thanks. I try to occasionally be useful.  ;D

iStock has a big thread of tutorials and resources too:

I know about GraphicGravy in this forum who has a site related to Illustrator Stock: http://www.graphicgravy.com/ (http://www.graphicgravy.com/)

Shutterstock also have interesting technical information you might look into: http://buzz.shutterstock.com/ (http://buzz.shutterstock.com/) See Vectors section.

Good luck!
