Title: Buying and then selling back again
Post by: dgaurh on June 04, 2014, 03:15
Hi folks
If I buy a photo from SS. Isolate subjects from it, put it in my own photos. Can I sell it back on SS ? While browsing I have noticed that the most popular photos are designer photos not "real"/natural photos. It's not too difficult to make simple fake photos and they'd sell much better than my own. Of course, there may be some laws against that. These designers who sell photos on SS, do they shoot themselves ? Just asking because people like photoshop designers more than actual photographers which means that the main buying public is not designers, it is normal people. Designers just take advantage of our cheap photos. They spend no money on equipment or travel, only time on computer and make something which sells better than our photos. I am so JEALOUS :)
Thanks for your advice

No. Quickest way to get kicked off an agency.

Nope.  You don't hold copyright to those images.  Take your own shots of elements and composite them.

Cudos for at least asking first.  That's more than I can say about a lot of other artists.

What you are implying is horrible. Let's hope all such artists are booted out ASAP. And that canva thing ? They give a perpetual license to an artist for a measly sum, right ? Won't that artist also sell the digital photo. He shouldn't be allowed to, right ? Only print selling should be allowed. I hope canva makes that quite clear. BTW, I think I am making a lot of people very angry by saying weird things here on MSG. Really sorry about that.

I am not implying. It happens more than you think and we have identified some of them here on MSG before. Some just laugh at the emails they get until they find themselves kicked off the sites. Your comments about sites like canva are right. Many agencies simply feel that once they have your images they can and will do whatever they want with them. Really sickens me.
