Okay, I'm new... bear with me...

Nothing is explained clearly. I am uploading my files with IPTC data to CanStock. Now there is something that I am puzzled with:

There are 2 checkmarks underneath the button "Process Files":
- Auto Keywords
- Auto Categories

Is it going to be conflicting with the IPTC or not. I don't know what to do here????
Thanks!

Autokeywords will add suggestions in the end of your original list of keywords.  In fact the word "suggestion" (or is "suggested"?) appear there to indicate where this starts.  If you don't edit them (I often did when I uploaded to CanStockPhoto) and send to review, they will be part of your keywords.

I don't know if there is any conflict between "auto categories" and categories entered in IPTC, as I never used the latter.

Adelaide

So you "copy and paste" always keywords list and description? What about if you are submitting 200 files to 4 companies? That consumes a lot of time. I'm new and very puzzled to find an easy way not to spend 12h/day working on copy and paste...

The Auto Category reads your keywords and automatically selects categories based on your keywords - it can save you time.  But you must ensure the auto-categories are relevant to your images

if auto categories selects people women and there are  no women visible in the image you should alter the categories before submitting.

There is no conflict with auto categories and iptc

Hroe,

You don't need to copy & paste anything.  Your images have IPTC data.  Canstock reads them and add suggested new keywords at the end, you select that choice.

If you intend to copy those keywords to the other sites, my suggestion is to upload to CanStockPhoto first, see the suggestions and apply them to the IPTC data of your files before submitting them to the other agencies.

In my case I never had a crucial new lkeyword added, although there were a few interesting ideas.  And what CanStockPhoto considers a suggestion may be consider a spam (maybe a stretch) in other sites.

Regards,
Adelaide

You do have the choice to accept or delete the suggested keywords as well.  In my experience, the suggested keywords are often good additions, or spark some other ideas.

Keep after it.  Sales at Canstock are taking off and the complete roll-out with Fotosearch is not even completed yet.  Just yesterday I was pleased to receive two of the $19.80 commissions within a couple of hours of each other.   I think this is going to be fun ;D
