Title: Dreamstime payment per image on average
Post by: EIPHOTO on February 10, 2020, 15:16
Hi There. Just took a look at the Dreamstime site as I am considering opening an account there. I was a bit confused regarding the payout per image on average. Does anyone here have any insight into that and might you be able to share what an average image earns the photographer or perhaps a general payout range?

Also idea if they are a good fit for editorial images do they place them regularly?

I don't know about editorial on DT, but the return per image is pretty low there. They are almost all sub sales at 35 cents and the occasional 2 dollar ones. Actual credit sales can be more - up to maybe $10 top, but that is only for images that have sold a lot before.

This month my RPD is 2.24 (2 decent sales and a bunch of subs) going back in time they are .76 .35 .91 .43 1.09 1.10 .59  and so on.

The number of sales is quite low about 2 orders of magnitude lower than the number of images I have. If I didn't start with them and have a long history I probably wouldn't bother now.

^^^ What he said.

I got a $13 sale in January at DT, but that is soooooooo rare. More $2 sales, but that's usually the max for me in a given month and they don't add up to much.

It usually takes me a year to pass the $100 payout threshold. I stick around there because I'm already there, but for sure I wouldn't bother to jump in from scratch at this point.

Dreamstime is about 1% of my sales (12 sites).  So don't get your hopes up.  Wish they sold more..

Of my last 20 sales there, 5 were $2 subs, one was a credit sale that netted me $4.90, and the rest were 35-cent subs.  It used to be that credit sales were common and could yield a lot, especially once they moved up in levels, but now they are very rare and mostly 35-cent subs.

They take editorial but they don't sell as well as RF, although those do tend to get the $2 subs more often.

Dreamstime is redundant.

Editorial photos are sold as RF.  Deamstime does not sell Rights Managed.

I get very few sales there. I have quite a few editorial images.  Without checking through I can't actually remember selling an editorial image there.
