Girls and guys,
I need some help / advice / tips. I have a session on on Sunday with a lovely young girl who does not do this for living - so no experience. On the other hand, I have no experience shooting with anyone other than close friends and family members. Probably worst combination ever but cheap - free in this case.
We have agreed on the indoor location and would mostly do portrait shots. we might do some sensual photos (maybe potentially sexy outfit but nothing more).
Any useful tips? poses? conversation?
Helpful thing is that I met her through my wife which will be here so there should not be the awkward moment....
Any help/advice/tip is welcomed.
thanks

Go simple with maybe an off camera flash and umbrella , if you have it
If not go real simple and at least brong a reflector, and you can have your wife assist you
Keep things simple, relaxed and fun
Look up some youtube tutorials on posing for your model and just have fun
One more thing... If. The model is sexy, dont wear trackpants

There's no need to try anything 'sensual'. Keep her in regular clothing and work on your lighting and posing.

I assume you have got it covered but make sure you have appropriate model release(s) in place.

Best advice.

That will potentially be at the end - if all goes well. But I agree.

Yes.

You sound so unprofessional. She obviously doesn't know anything about GWC's...

Did you come to that conclusion on your own or did the title give it away? Or maybe the fact that it was in newbie section? Too bad we cant all be born with all the knowledge like yourself. Too bad you are unwilling to share it with stupid people.

- Regarding the technical part: try out the light setting a day before with a friend or your wife to get a feel for it. (strobes, camera adjustments, natural light conditions etc.). Even I do it still sometimes after 12 years of experience. It just helps and evens out the creative process, enables improvising later.....will it be a location shoot or a flat studio with white background?
- Regarding your attitude: just keep it cool, take it lightly and relax, and even if you are lost about what to do for a moment just keep it going and pretend you know what you do ;-) It doesnt help to transmit insecurity to somebody who stands the first time alone in front of the camera.
- Regarding the Directing of the Model: give her self-confidence. Show the results on-camera every now and then that she sees that its great what you two are doing. Also I prefer to keep a close communication to the Models when they are not professionals. Tune in to her and find out what she enjoys, then go with the flow! You produce the best results with not-so-experienced Models when you pronounce what naturally comes out of them and direct them towards that, encourage them.
- Sensual part: Always lots of fun (assuming a professional attitude from both sides)! Just talk clearly before what the limits are and then play! You both will feel if something is not good or if you can go further. Offer her to delete particular shots she doesnt like or in which she does not look so nice. Sensual photography is beautiful, especially with natural light!

First part - I am doing that today and I am lucky since the weather conditions should be exactly the same for the shoot (if the weather forecast is correct).
It will be apartment with white background.
All else - excelent points and I did consider most od them.
As far as sensual part and deletion of the photos... we agreed that we will see at the end how everything goes. We agreed that neither one will push for anything that the other is not comfortable with. This is something that could potentially turn in something longer as far as working with her so I would definitely not want to push her away. We agreed to start with juat usual portraita (head and shouldera and go from there).
Thank you for great advice
