If you have a real love of photography you will want to get better equipment that lets you be creative, anyway. Once you get a reasonable grasp of composition, lighting and exposure then you may be ready to try the micros.
I'd suggest that if you have a good library in your area you go and look at the work of famous photographers and see if it inspires you and why. If it does, then try to move up to an SLR what you can achieve (using a standard 50mm lens is good, as being unable to zoom makes you think more about how to approach your subject and the 50mm lenses are good quality and cheap).
