Hi, im new in the Stock Photo world, i was acepted as illustrator at SS a few weeks ago after 3 applications :)

I can see that almost everybody upload their work (pictures or illustrations) not only in one site, but also in different sites, but i really dont know if this is good or not, so can anybody tell me if this is the better choise to win more money?

Thank you in advance ;)

Basically if you sell in more than one agency your files can reach more buyer. Think that Oringer the CEO of SS said that exclusives are wrong by putting all their files in an agency. I agree with him. However, some are exclusive as well and so it's a personal choice.
In Istock many had large gains as exclusive, but now many are becoming independent. At this time you should choose more than one agency, not all twenty, and see where your files sell well. By the time you can choose whether to continue or become exclusive.

Submit to as many as you can. I submit to almost 20. However, I'm an illustrator that doesn't have to take time with a bunch of model releases and paying staff/models/studio rental.

Definitely offer your work on multiple agencies.  It shouldn't take a lot more effort on your point, and will definitely earn more for you.  Besides, until you are on multiple sites, you can't know where your style and subjects will sell best.  Just because many or even most of us do better at certain agencies doesn't mean you will have the same experience.  Try a number of agencies and see how you do over time.  Give each one at least six months; a year would be better.  Some can take time to give you the exposure that leads to sales.  And if they don't perform, leave them a while longer and see what happens.

1) Begin with the more agencies you can. This need time a lot

2) Wait some months (1 year?) and see where you sell more.
You will begin to understand it only after some months and when you will have an enough consistent portfolio - I think that a minimum of 300 images are necessary to begin to understand how things go.

3) Let go those agencies where your sales are low in quantity and in income, don't waste your time to upload there, it is time that you can use for more useful works, as shoot/prepare other images or write better keywords/titles/descriptions for your images.
(you can have good money selling 2 photos a year, for example, on Alamy, but surely not selling 2 photos a year on FeaturePics :D )

4) Don't listen too much the advice of other people [:D], we have all different photos and different styles and an agency that don't work for one can work very well for another So only you can really understand what you need to do.

I wish you all the possible success!

Unless some agency requires image exclusivity, or you agreed to be image- or series- exclusive with an agency, you are free to spread your work around as much as you choose.

It depends of the kind of license.
If you chose RF (Royalty Free) for all sites you will have no problem.

But consider that "as many sites as possible" is not the best way.
Begin to upload in the first 20 - 25 sites indicated in the right column of this site. These will keep you busy for some time ;)

Well, you are right, maybe no "as many sites as possible" but at least the first 8 in the TOP, thats means:

Shutterstock
Fotolia
Dreamstime
123RF
DepositPhotos
Pond5
Envato
Canstockphoto

I will not upload to istock because i try to applied several times but they want more "artisitcal" illustrations

Thank you for your advice :)

You could add GLStockImage to your list. I think that they will grow fast.

But this is only my opinion of course.

Maybe GLStock does not accept new contributors, now. I submitted to them some initial photos, and they replied so. Perhaps they accept or not new contributors after viewing your images, I don't now.

However, I'm new in stock photos, uploaded something more than 100 images up to now, and submit to 14 agencies: the biggest earner for me is SS, but the sum of the sells by other agencies is greater than sells on SS alone. So, also my (humble newbie) advice is to upload to top and middle tier, at least.
My best earner is SS, than Fotolia, third is DepositPhoto, fourth Dreamstime. No sells for me in other agencies (123, Bigstock and so on)

I begun to submit to them 10 days ago and they have accepted me very fast (and I am not *this* genius of microstock photo ;) )
