I'm shooting some videos with iphone and green screen.
Generally is it problem that the phone is instantly recognizable as iPhone, mainly I mean the round home button. Should I mask it?

I have seen some footage in Pond5 which clearly show iPhone with home button. But in some videos the button and or the speaker is masked.

Masking with a sticker or so looks kind of foul somehow and is quite troublesome to do in post.

Most agencies will only let you sell it as editorial if it has a recognisable phone model in it. iPhone especially.

I normally hide mine with my thumb when I'm holding it.

If you want to shoot a video of iPhone and you mask the iPhone in the way it will not be recognizable, then it is a nonsense.
If the brand of the phone is not important then use another brand of phone, the less recognizable possible.

Could be expensive buying a comparable phone if he's only got the one. Not sure he could sell the shot if he picks up a Nokia 3310. Guess he could borrow one.

Okay, maybe a some modeling clay would do the trick?

Another wise suggestion is to mask front camera to prevent being recorded directly to the cloud.
More intelligent way: not to use *this phone* at all, of course only in case you care about constant leakage of private data and increased net traffic.
Otherwise you are good to go!:)

Or, you could do what I did - download iOS 11.1 and turn your iPhone into a brick ;-)

Yeah, this fact also illustrates the whole mess with this tekno thingy.

This tekno thingy? This technology thingy? The tekno thingy you're using to complain about the tekno thingy... the one you're using to shoot your images, edit your images, upload your images, create and maintain your blog, and the teckno thingy that miraculously deposits money in a teckno thingy account every month?

Yeah, bloody tekno thingies! It was a simpler time when I could mail in a sketch I had made of a tomato to SketchStock, in the hopes that I might be mailed a few gold crowns or possibly a goat at the end of my month... from people who had ordered my image from the large physical catalogue in the local SketchStock store. With the advent of the printing press, it made it possible for them to sell my sketch for me several times... and it was always such a joy to receive a telegram at the end of the month declaring my earnings. WE were putting our money away to save for a new horse and cart.

Looks like you don't get the point.
I am talking about concrete device mentioned in the header.
You don't have full control over it. Landlord of it is company - not you.
Choose device that can be fully rooted and doesn't have beetle markers in it.
Privacy is what i am talking about.
