OK, This may be a silly question but;

I have a few shots of various cars. Would the main stock sites accept these considering that most include the car manufacturers logo in the bodywork? I could easily retouch them out but I feel this would be mis-representing said cars.

TIA

This is generally a no no for royalty free.

Check for each individual site but for an example IS provide guidance:
Do Not Submit:  logos, trademarks, company names, product names, product brands or trademarked and patented designs

Safest bet is to edit the images and clone out the logos.

NB I have also been caught out by tyres, if there is a brand name or number on the sidewall expect to need to take that out also!

Cheers for the advice. I think I'll stick to detail shots for now  :)

IS is extremely selective with car shots, and last year or so actually got rid of all images where you could identify the make of the car just by the design.  The only shots they will accept are completely generic close-ups.  You can pretty much guarantee other sites will follow suit, if they have not already...unless they accept editorial.

karimala, even completely generic close-ups.. are not 100% safe.
my network friend submitted a real closeup with logo cloned-off
and the only thing you see is the door handle.
no one could tell which make it is from the body and door handle.
still, she told me that it was rejected by everyone with "risk of copyright or property rights issue" , or something like that.

so she decided to send to some sites with Editorial.. and still she gets "we have no use for this sort of images" .  it was a pity, because the work was really excellent. as someone told her, "i like the effect, it's like you airbrushed it".
which she didn't, just photoshop no clones or tampering other than getting rid of the logo.
