Ive some newbies questions.

I signed up with bigstockphoto cause Ive a bunch of old 1,5mp photos I want to upload, after reading some blogs I found here I see Shutterstock makes ppl most moneyz. So i guess I shoud start posting there any new photos from my 10mp camera.

I see you have portefolios on all those sites, is that the same pictures just sent to a bunch of different sites?
Is there other sites I should put my less then 2,5 mp photos on ?(I think Ive some great one since I love to travel alot and take photos but who knows).

If you only can upload 1 photo on 1 site how do you choose what pics you put where?

Thanks

Welcome takeme0ut!

Yes, SS seems to work the best in terms of sales for most people. They accept a minimum size of 4mp right now, so any new pictures you can submit there. On SS, you need to submit 10 photos first, and 7 of them need to be accepted.

I would suggest of registering at SS, and then submitting 10 photos on their forum first. It's the best way to get good reviews and help form the people there who know it all. :)

I started a couple of months ago, by registering on all relevant sites. Please check your inbox for a private message.

I believe that 2mp is the smallest accepted size. I don't think that 1.5mp size would be accepted at any of the relevant sites. Do you have any that are above 2mp?

Actually, Stockexpert's minimum requirements page says they accept 800 X 600 (less than .5mp!)  I have not tried and wonder who would buy the stuff but apparently that is all they require.

Hi Takemeout,

I would suggest not bothering uploading the small sized photos if you have a camera capable of making 10mpx images.  The smaller sizes will severely limit your income potential.

If you like the concepts and execution of the smaller files, try reshooting them with the better camera.

And yes, most of us have roughly the same portfolios on all the micros we submit to, with the exception of istock.  Their upload limits are restrictive so many high volume independent producers are not able to get most of their images on istock.

at the beginning, i did upload some "tiny" 800 by 600 files to stockxpert. they did not sell.
but lately, for some reason, i had quite a few sales from my XL and L files, but the sales were for small sizes.  maybe buyers use it for the web pages like wikipedia,etc...
