Hi!
I just started exploring stock sites. I have small home tabletop studio and I'm planning to upload clean minimal photos to some stock sites (isolated, white background).
I logged on shutter, istock and fotolia, to see what are their conditions and stuff...
...I have a question, are you using same photos on different sites and is that legal? I know it's ok on fotolia if you check non-exclusive, but what about other sites? Is it more profitable to do that or its better to stick to one site with large number of images only, or maybe use two different sites for uploading different style of images?

Ok I just realized that I should do a little search to find an answer...I understand that if photo is not exclusive its ok to have it on different sites, but I did't find an option for selecting if it is exclusive on istock...is it the same as "extended license option", and how it is on shutterstock?

iStockphoto does not have exclusivity per image. Just exclusive artists with an entire portfolio of exclusive RF.

yep, what sjlocke said about istock, and with shutterstock you can't upload things exclusively s (except for images from their red carpet events - but even then there is no check box)
An extended license is a different type of license than the regular one. Regularly people can't use your photo for a post card for example, or some sties also have print quantity limitations, with the extended license you can use the image for posters, post cards etc.. or a higher print run. All the sites have different rules, but in general this is the way it works.

Hi, I am new here. I am started to try sell my photos. I started with Dreamstime. I want to sell my photos only in one site Dreamstime. It is good decision or no ??? Selling photos is only my hobby. I dont have more free time to organize and upload my photos to more sites. I want work exclusively with Dreamstime.

If you a beginner and you have only time for one site, I would choose dreamstime as an exclusive agency. If you are realy good at it and you can produce stuff that sells well and has high quality, I would go to iStock. BUT there is no definit answer to your question. People have different experiences. However if you are really good I think it is very unlikely that Dreamstime is a good choice at this time to go exclusive with them. Fotolia is btw also an option but I do not think a good one for beginners (high rejection rate).

Thank you for your answer. I have time for my decision. I have only one photo in Dreamstime. 17 photos was rejected. I am beginner. I need 50 photos and then I can decision if I will work exclusively for Dreamstime. Nowdays I dont have 3 perfect photos for iStock entry test. :'(
