Every site has slightly a different policy, but the basic idea is the same for all microstock sites: tasteful nudes are acceptable, explicit are not.

And I never came across nudes that sell well, for instance I've never seen a nude image with a flame etc. I came across a 100% nude port (or almost), the photos were ok, but his file/DL ratio was something like 2:1 at best, so you can see that nudes don't sell at all in micro. Might me different in macro, I don't know. I think you'd have more luck selling prints. I did shoot nudes for a year or two, because I was also selling them to a magazine, so they were featured on the cover, I did sold one that was a part of an exhibition. I was doing it only for a year since there was no market for this kind of shots (the magazine changed nudes for healthy lifestyle/sports shots), but it might be different where you live. But there surely is no real market for nudes, at least out of the art scene (but they have to be really good in order to sell). And yeah playboy and similar images come to mind, but you must really make a name for yourself, before even thinking about Playboy ;)

Are you certain your models are happy with themselves being sold nude for commercial use for $1?  They will show up in porn ads and pretty much anything else.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I do most of stuff I do for art purposes so I am looking for a way to finance my addiction to L series glass and lights!  I paid for and downloaded the guide that was listed in the beginners post.  But in general do you guys have ideas on what sells well?

They signed the release that lists commercial use and were paid well however if one were to object I would remove her image just because that's how I am.

If an image has already been sold, the buyer can still use it under the terms of the license even if you subsequently remove it.

Is there much money to be made doing stock nudes though? I thought they were hard to sell...?

Ya, I wonder if nude photos sell well. I also wonder if nude photos can sell well in extended license. Because extended license might be needed for resale purpose if the nude photos are used as the main focus in prints or any art or adult content.  ::)

A couple of my shots at Getty sell regularly and almost exclusively in Europe.

I have some nudes RM and some RF, so the price points are different and also the info about how/where they're used. But I know one rather artsy image was in a European edition of Playboy and another on the cover of a magazine that seems like Maxim or something.

Getty's price points vary, however RM is the most variable and RF changes often.

Indeed. I think some images are used in skin care product markets and dermatology, etc, but the images are used otherwise mainly, I think.

I can see that skin care usages should be partial ("safe") nudity.   :)
