Is it safe uploading government id onto sites that request it? I am trying to get my head around to doing this for istock. Is this a new thing? What do other newcomers think about this and those who has uploaded to join istock has there been any problems like identity theft etc?

I presume so. We don't appear to have much choice about it if we want to get paid.

So true.

I was a bit wary about it, but no problems.

I was advised to add a text on it, like a watermark, something like "this copy is for XYZ use only". I don't know if this prevents anything, but...

Thanks for the good suggestion Adelaide, it helps.

Which govt photo id are most people tending to use?

I've no problems with uploading a passport photocopy to any agency, it has my name and address on it which can be easily obtained by anyone if they're really that bothered and to be honest for 5 you could go to any pub in east london and buy a fake one anyway, so if someone wants to go to the trouble of hacking into an agency system for a black and white copy of my passport good luck to them.

I upload my international transport. It has no address and no social security number etc... on it.

I also upload my passport - a photo of it, not a very good resolution, with the text I said on anything that may be a bit important (such as covering part of the number). Our passport doesn't have addresses or any other personal data either.

What reminds me, mine has just expired...

Adelaide

Haha, mine has no pages left for visa. Still one year to go. Incidentally, are visa stamps in a passport copyrighted?

Don't think so, no.  There are plenty on iStock and I'm sure they'd bounce them if they were!
