Title: What's the deal with web usage?

Hi all, sorry if it's a dumb question. One of my photos have been used on a web news page, it was bought as a subscription. Is that okay for it to be used on a web news page that has been shared thousands of times?

I'm new to stock photography and I'm not sure on all the different rules and regulations.

Normally that would be a perfectly normal, permitted usage.
Why don't you check the terms and conditions of use on each of the sites you sell through? There can be slight differences between them - and some sites seem to have gone out of their way to make them difficult to find - but at least you'll have a starting point for knowing what's allowed and what isn't.

Thanks for such a quick reply ShadySue. You are right about information being hard to find.

I also see people mentioning that they need to state whose photo it is, is that the case for all uses or not necessarily?

Again, it depends on the T&C of the particular agency. However, I can tell you that iStock requires photos used editorially to have the credit iStockphoto/contributor, and that is ignored in around half of my found editorial in-uses (so probably many buyers don't even read the T&C).
AFAIK, it's not general to require a credit on images used commercially.
