On New Year's Day we had a party at our house.  In the middle of the afternoon, while sipping a glass of wine in a room full of people, I pulled out my phone and checked email - and I'd just made a sale at GL!   I think it's a good omen.

Yeap, sales have dropped since last summer. I wonder what happened, such a promissing start...

I think what happened is they got lots more images faster than they got new buyers.

There are a few things about GL I really like -
1. FTP is quick and easy and there aren't lots of categories etc. etc. to mess with
2. you can set a higher image price - I haven't done this, but it is a nice option
3. the people working there actually listen to us and communication is clear and goes both ways
4. the commission % is nice
5. A number of the images accepted into the GL collection are images that I particularly liked but other sites rejected - they aren't all the same old same old.

Sales there lately haven't been as good as they were in mid 2011 when I had a few EL sales (I joined in early 2011), but they do continue. I fear that customers haven't kept up with the massive influx of new images but hopefully with all of the new content the customers will follow.

Not a contributor at GL but wondering if new/smaller distributors are not affected much more severely during the annual slowdown than the more established agencies?

Maybe it will get back on track in March?

It's been pretty stable there. I'd love to see them keep growing though. I'm probably due for some more uploading there.

My sales at GL weren't bad in Dec, considering the normal Christmas slowdown. And I've had some sales in January. GL is still one of my favorite sites. Fair reviews, easy uploading, and very fair pay rates.

As long as I get an occasional sale that nets me $3, I'll stick with them.

Their site has a clean look and they don't seem to be taking in a lot of junk.  If I a look at their "recently added" page I get the feeling the reviewers have designers' eyes.

After a dead October and November, I got one $15 sale around Christmas and two $6 sales this year already.

I like the higher prices and the higher royalty-%. Granted, sales are very slow, but since uploading with StockSubmitter is easy, I'll stick with them.

I'm curious what their new layout will bring; more customers? more traffic? more sales? Let's hope so.

are most of the sales still vector or graphics?

I wonder when it is going to use GL images instead of graphicsleftovers..

Yes, I usually get 1-2 per month. Provided they keep their commission percentages and prices fairly high, I will keep supporting them. Honestly I do better with GL than I ever did with LuckyOliver.

Pfew, at least you didn't yell at me for digging out an old topic. It's just that I hate to waste forum space with new whinings :P

So it's official, Louis will be the buyer of my next sale on GL, if not, he's banned from this forum...and microstock...and Portugaland this site

I uploaded only ~400 photos to GL until now; and I got 5 sales in 2012. Not really encouraging to upload the rest of my portfolio...

I have a couple hundred there and I might get 2 sales in a month, netting 50 cents or maybe a dollar.

There's been a lot of talk here about supporting new sites - is it worthwhile. or are we just going to a lot of trouble to help someone siphon off a few sales from SS and pay us the same or less?

At PD you'll never get more than a dollar or two, and with sales so low, I see no reason to continue.   At GL, prices are higher.   But neither site has the potential for that rare but lucrative sale of an extended license at a good commission (am I correct on that?).  I think small sites should at least give you the illusion that you might hit the jackpot once in a great while :-)   This week I had a sale at SS that paid me $62.  Why do I want to undercut SS at this point?

Love to see them grow, knowledgable people, etc. This might just be the problem with GL, too graphic, perfect, etc,  an ordinary, down to earth buyer simply cant associate with them, too stylish, etc.
Might be a smarter move to simply sell macro/micro. Theyre trying to target a group that can afford, only most of todays buyers havent got a pot to piss in. Difficult.

Also its far too much exposure of "pretty" images, especially stylish models posing, often against white, etc. In this digital agency jungle, you have to be a generalist agency to even stand a chance to survive.
Thats a lesson we have learnt from both, Stones-worlwide and Image-Bank.

Seen pretty steady growth with them. Hovering around $100 per month.
Like the site, like the people. Definitely one I will be supporting into the future even if sales aren't stellar.

Still nothing, 60 cents from payout, lots of new images (added in GL Collection), few sales every month before, now nada in June/July.
What am I to think of this?.

I wouldn't read into it too much. I get a payout there every month, so there isn't any sort of conspiracy.

Microbius, are you an illustrator?

I have a feeling illustrators do best on mid/low earners like BS, CS and GL.

Yes, mainly an illustrator, not sure if I do better than photographers on the smaller sites or not, GL is about 1-2% of my micro income.
BS does more than GL for me, CS less but none of these make up more than 3% I would say.
SS and IS are far and away the biggest earners for me, just like for photogs

Sounds like illustrators do considerably better on GL than photographers.  I only get around $30/month there, and they are 0% of my overall stock income.  That's with 6500 images.
