Also, if you have any suggestions, I'd be willing to hear them :)

Thanks danoph, and I do have some constructive suggestions.   I understand that SEO is an evolving game and we need to play along - but GL could help.

If I'd realized the increasing importance of titles and descriptions I'd have redone them all before uploading to GL - but now it's too late and I'll have to edit them all 'in place'.   The UI doesn't make this easy, offering only a thumbnail view with no details, text or dates.  I have to click through 2 pages for each image to get an editable description, then click back to the thumbnail view for the next image - and when I tried this, I quickly lost track of which ones I'd already edited.  Even for my small portfolio, this was going to take far too long.

Also, if I'm going to change the descriptions, I naturally want those changes in my own master files as well.  That means editing the originals, then cut-pasting the new titles/descriptions into GL.

Here's what we need:  a 'list view' something like what Dreamstime offers, where each row has a small thumbnail, the file name, and IN-PLACE-EDITABLE title and description fields (where I can double-click the text to edit it, or overwrite it, on the spot).   A 'last edited' date field would let me keep track of where I left off in the editing process.

Since you guys are the search experts, you could give us some examples and guidelines of what works best for GL (maybe you already have them; I haven't looked). Should I just try to cram keywords into grammatical sentences, or is there some subtlety to this?

High views count doesnt mean anything. As danoph confirmed few posts before they are counting also bots to the statistics. I guess human/customer preview count will be just small fragment of these. But good news is that they are going to fix it soon so we will see real numbers than...

I've been there about 8 months and have had 37 sales. Started off strong but have had fewer sales recently.

Did you get their newsletter? There was mention on there of housecleaning going on to clear up copyright issues. What kind of images were removed? Or did hey just pick a bunch of stuff at randome and kill them off?

I also believe they have something about an annual review thing in their terms.

Well there you go then. GraphLeft has no editorial license provisions.

Total GL sales as of today: $26

I figure this is a pretty decent start, especially considering how fast and easy it was to upload.

just signed u and tried it, the interface seems good and uploading is quite easy, but i do encounter the error message with #xxxx sometimes.

after uploading the files will appear in the 'unfinished' in 'few hours' (few hours is what they mentioned in their uploading page, but it turns out can be few minutes only) and if your IPTC is there, it will be moved to approval pending without extra jobs.

I had uploaded few files, and tried to search them, and it seems new uploaded file will appear as the first page, good for exposure of new uploaded images.

here is my shameless referral link..
http://graphicleftovers.com/ref=mtkang/

for vector, you can upload xxx.eps matching with xxx.jpg to get IPTC read.

Just reached my first payout with GL.  Its good to have a new site that has sales, some of my referrals are selling a few as well.  Wouldn't it be good if sites like this that are easy to use and pay a decent commission took over from some of the sites that have cut commissions and have become too fussy about what they accept?  I can dream :)

I have a couple of sales now and then. I also had some images removed but that was announced in their newsletter. Good agency, getting better and better.

A few weeks ago I decided to give it a try and asked for an FTP account, but still no answers.

Now, the .zip upload method is fine - but at 20 MB at a time I'm not going to lose my time uploading to a low-earner, sorry.

With just 150 images, I've made a few sales at GL over a period of a few months.  This site gives me hope for the future.  I've quit doing microstock because, at 25 cents a sale, it's just not worthwhile unless you have high-volume subjects, and I don't do those sorts of things.  But at GL's prices, it would make sense again.

Still one sale. And a funny thing is that they reject me lately more than FT, SS or DT..

Yes, the default pricing changed. It was in their monthly newsletter. Growing pains or something. If you want your previous images to have the $6 price, you need to do that manually i think.

still looking forward for my first sale.. i find the uploading process is quite good, if you have everything with IPTC in your jpg, it will move to pending approval without extra click.

Review will be done in 24 hours or less, in my experience (there aren't much people uploading?)

there is this GL collections that if you photos are in, it will be showed randomly as one of the images on their homepage.

i got like 6 images out of my 60 porfolio is in that collections so i can see my own images at their homepage.

generally a good experience for contributors.

Made a sale there the other day of a vector that hadn't sold anywhere else so I'm pleasently happy.  This is my BME on there so far as I've gotten 2 sales within 8 days of each other so I'm happy.

I also have 5 images in there as well but haven't seen my stuff on the front page.  That'd be a nice surprise to see that :)

It's sort of like an Editor Choice I guess.

I think it is like they think your images are interesting enough for some buyers, and those images will be randomly showcase on the frontpage. It means you get more views and more exposure.

and one can set your own price, and you can even upload a psd, photoshop file.

it seems many people got sales there in short time, but i am still waiting for my first sale there.

Got my first sale in GL in one month..it is not as fast as some of you for the 1st sale but still a good experience.

It paid 52% to contributors so i got $3.12 for a single sale, and you can set your own price. which website is paying fair to contributors and do all things fair?

To me, the website had read what contributors want and make the business a fair deal, so i have to recommend it for buyers and sellers.

For seller,

1. 52% share for contributors.
2. No lock-up time for porfolio.
3. Very easy uploading, and fast review, within 24 hours. If IPTC is in JPG then it will go to pending approval after uploaded, and vector just upload xxx.eps + xxx.jpg. Fast review just encourage one to upload more since it doesn't have to wait for days and weeks.
4. Set your own price if up to $20.
5. If you images are chose into GL collection, it will showcase on the front page to increase your exposure. It seems to give contributors a fair opportunity to increase their portfolio exposure and sale. 15 images are showed on the front page each time, change every refresh of page. I find that no other website do it better.

here is my referral link.. thanks.

however, it doesn't accept images with fully recognised people at this moment.

I can't remember who it was that recommended GL to me, but whoever it was, I want to thank you.  Sales don't come in as frequently but when they do, it's a nice little surprise and a decent payment.  Also the GL Collection actually works.  I uploaded the following file yesterday, it was added to the collection and it sold today.
