Ok so im new to this microstock world and even to photography world , i am creative and i love to photograph with my smartphone and i heard about it so i signed up to Fotolia and Dreamstime (SS and IS wants passport , and i think it isnt a good idea to give it).
I started to upload photos (i dont have a portfolio , i got some nice pics but most of my upload are new photos that i took with my galaxy s4) to Fotolia and DT three weeks ago and i got 2 sales on fotolia and 0 on DT. :(
most of my photos are landscapes and animals , sometimes i take pic of things in my city but i think im not in the right direction to success.
what kind of photos really sell ? and can i keep use my galaxy s4 or i must to get a high quality DSLR camera ? (i got an old fujifilm s2500 hd , the quallity of it is just like the galaxy..)
so please answer me , it will help me alot!

If you are only looking for money to buy a coffee now and then your smartphone may be OK.  If you are serious about trying to make some additional income then your smartphone isn't likely gonna get it done, and you are going to have to get on at Shutterstock.

You will likely need to upgrade to one of the cameras discussed in the thread below:

Some sites have mobile only sections and their may even be some mobile only sites, but I have never heard of anyone paying their rent, and other living expenses solely from pictures from a mobile phone.

Stop using slogans like "the right direction to success",we are not living inside an agency advertisement or a miraculous 5 days workshop, and you'll propably get somewhere sooner or later.Where will that be who knows.

If you love to make pictures and you want to make stock images, you should. But you have to be really serious about it! You have a lot to learn. I suggest start learning the stock industry and decide how serious you are. If you haven't give up until Christmas buy a camera when they are cheaper. I guess you are going to shoot what you like but that's not a problem at all. I am constantly surprised what sells and what doesn't at stock sites. And you don't have to be a professional photographer neither... unfortunately. So if you are serious (3rd time) you have a very good chance to earn the money for the dslr you are soon going to buy in the next couple of years.

When you make payout at Fotolia and Dreamstime you will need to give them your info including a license or passport.
Without a link to your portfolio, it's impossible to give you any other advice.

Why?  What do you know that 50,000 other contributors don't know?

you didnt understand me, i mean that maybe i upload photos that will never sell and i need help to know what photos are useful for costumers.

thanks man, you mean that there is no specific kind of photos that sell and everything in general every photo has the chance to sell, sounds great!
i really love photographing and i think there is no way i will stop doing it.

you wont see any improvements if you don't open your mind

Okay, but how is it expressed ?

You have to give to receive !
You have to read to know how !
You have to learn to be better !

You have to be more specific because i dont understand you !

i know that sometimes there are attacks by hackers that steal information of people in the internet , maybe you just forgot those things?

"i know that sometimes there are attacks by hackers that steal information of people in the internet , maybe you just forgot those things?"

That's irrelevant.  To do business, the companies you do business with need your information.

Well, good luck.

Wannabe noobs that come on here saying they just love photography and (without having any knowledge of photography) immediately sign up to sell their stuff because how hard could it be, ask questions that they then sass seasoned pros when answering those questions... go on my ignore list.

Welcome to easy money pal you should do just fine.

I can't speak for SS, but iS accepted my Passport scan with all but the details they needed blurred out (e.g. my passport number). But that was in late 2006.

And what are you going to do when people steal your images, remove the watermark and use them however they want to? If you want a risk free way to sell your images this is not it.

What kind of images sell? Look around. Look at ads, brochures, blogs, news articles, magazines. Those are the images that sell. Beyond that, nobody can tell you for certain.

Is your cell phone good enough? Who knows. Are you good enough? I guess someone with alot of talent, a good knowledge of photography and good commercially sellable subjects could do pretty well with a cell phone. Kinda handicapping yourself though. But who knows.

So you think agencies should send money to people who didnt identify themselves? How safe is that for the companies? Get real!
