Title: 2012
Post by: madelaide on November 22, 2009, 16:18
I saw "2012" today and I wanted to know if different countries had a different scene.

There is a moment in the movie that people see on TV what is happening in the world.  I'm not talking about the scene with Schwarzenegger, it's later.  Here it showed Rio de Janeiro, with the statue of * crumbling.

I wonder if they had different scenes, such as the Eiffel Tower for France or Big Ben for UK or Harbour Bridge for Australia.

In Germany they showed the Rio scene along with others throughout the world, I don't think there is but one version . . . .  hey, the whole world goes to pot . . . . .  I love fantasy!

I realised today that I'm so far out of the loop that I didn't even know 2012 was a movie until I read your whole post. I think I'm in danger of missing a whole generation of pop culture if I keep missing so much TV. Its the second blockbuster movie I've heard mentioned today that I hadn't even heard of - the first was "Twilight"... the really worrying thing is that its up to part II already.

Is the movie showing in English in Rio?

When we watched it we saw the Hawaiian islands covered in volcanos and lava. Everyone went "awww..." in the theatre. It was funny. I also liked how the earth was opening up and a plane was flying out of it without any turbulence due to the vacuum the earth would have caused in opening...I liked the guy in Yellowstone. He was cool.

You are better to keep it this way. 2012 rumor is like the 2000 computer bug. Oulala, the Maya calender end in 2012 plus some freaks had hallucinations... -Sigh-

Months ago I received a link from a friend to a site that was a sort of group of scientists saying this catastrophe would happen in 2012 and the governments were hiding it.  It was a teaser for the movie, and I thought this "group" would be part of the story, but I was wrong.

Holgs, the movie is in English with Portuguese subtitles.  Only children movies are dubbed, although many can be found in both versions (subtitled being less frequent in this case, however).  At least these dubbed movies, when they are from big studios like Disney, have a very careful dubbing with actors, much better than what we normally get on TV (movies in open channels are dubbed, in cable they are mostly with subtitles, though many offer a choice).

"Twilight", yes.  The books were a big success among teens and I expected something creative like Harry Potter, but I saw it on cable last week and what a waste of time!  I have the impression they packed too much from the book in the movie, some parts "happened" too fast. But then I should better ask my nephew what he thinks - I can't deny there is a generation gap. :)

Kona, the moment they mentioned Hawaii in the movie, it was obvious to me what would happen.

Ha, I feel the same way.  I've been away for 9 months now and haven't had facebook for almost 3(great firewall of china) so I miss out on this stuff too.  My friends from back home sent their Halloween pictures and I have no idea who they dressed up as, someone all over TV but I don't recognize them at all.

The story is... lets say "necessary" to get the different scenes together, BUT the special effects are spectacular, great, never seen before, amazing etc.

Donīt even think abount downloading this movie and watch it on your PC or home TV. THIS has to be seen in a cinema, on a wide screen and absolutely ALL volume controls for the sound system HAVE to be near the "are you nuts" level.

Alternativly wait for the blu-ray, get yourself a 100 inch FULL HD flatscreen, incl. a state-of-the-art sound system and then send your neighbors out of town (or invite them to watch)

Anything else is not nearly half the fun  ;D
