Title: advice on starting out with animation videos?
Post by: JoeClark on October 25, 2017, 08:08
Hello,

Can anyone give advice on starting out with animation videos?

I use illustrator for vectors and was thinking of trying animation, perhaps using After Effects? Or can somebody recommend software?

How well do they sell in comparison to real life videos? Can anyone please throw me some ideas on additional monetization strategies for motion graphics videos (https://blog.advids.co/20-brilliant-animated-motion-graphics-video-examples/)?

Any feedback or comments will be appreciated.
Thank you.

After Effects is the way to go for motion graphics. There are other options, but if you're already using Illustrator, then that's going to be your best option. In my experience, motion graphics videos sell better than live action videos. Everyone loves a bit of HUD action... make some sci-fi HUDs in Illustrator and animate them in AE.

Photoshop can do basic animation/video editing. You might want to play with that a bit before shelling out for After Effects

For cartoon type stuff, you're probably right... but not for all animation.

If you have a full Creative Cloud subscription and you have some illustrated vector characters check out Character Animator CC you can do some really fun things in there and send it to After Effects to combine with other elements and more traditional animation.
