Title: Attention all you passive income seekers!
Post by: jwsc101 on August 24, 2010, 15:59
Ok, so this isn't really much to do with microstock but I have just come across another way to make relatively 'easy' money from blogs and posts and promoting your photos/sites.  The site is called hubpages and you publish your own pages, posts etc (much easier than creating individual blogs/pages).  Ads and affiliates are provided by google and amazon and earnings go straight to your existing accounts. You can also promote your own photo sites, blogs etc via your pages.  It really is quite easy.

Excuse the hard sell (I know some will moan), but I have just found it and think it is great and I hope it will genuinely be of interest to you all.  Link is here:

Moan. Where's your port by the way? This is not a referral collection site but a photography site. Never mind.

I set up a Hubpage a while back. I can't really say I was sold on the whole concept, but some people swear by that and Squidoo. I guess some of it is probably my fault because I didn't dive into it like I did with my blog.

Already there but I haven't done much with it.  Might give me something to do in the winter.

Sounds like it might be an interesting option, but I don't really get the difference between this and having a blog...?

Me neither. Could someone please major differences?

The site gets lots of traffic and you can get good search placement on google.  It might not be so easy to get your blog seen.

I think Maria "m Adelaide?" use the hub?

Yes, I think the key benefits are that you can create a page very quickly, much quicker than a blog, and the much higher levels of traffic and google ranking.  My hubs are already generating much higher traffic figures than my stand alone blogs.

The pages can be about anything (within reason!)  i.e.   selling, linking, review type posts, information or just general ramblings.

Have been reading a thread on there about people who did a 30 day challenge - 30 pages in 30 days, and some of their income figures are quite impressive.

Interesting this internet thing.

No, but I have 3 Squidoo pages (Christmas, Valentine's, St Patrick's). They only generated traffic in the first days, possibly because of the seasonal themes. Managed to generate US$0.37 for Kiva.  ;D

I have an anonymous hub page. The whole scheme is page views and click through. Most of the people making anything are simply information (SPAM!) factories. It's not like an interesting blog and getting readers, it's all about sell, sell, sell. Just take a look at the most recent and most popular.

That doesn't mean someone can't use it as a nice blog and have free storage and a place to post information, links or personal views. Just don't expect it to generate income!  :(

Of course. If you have good and readable content, put it on your own blog. Repeated content on the net (scam hubpages and your own blog) will downgrade you on Google.

what is this? what is the reason a hubpage will gain more view than a blog?

I did - and soon abandoned - a hubpage a long time ago (with an anonymous username of course), writing a bit of very uninteresting old information and managed to earn a few dollars thru amazon affiliation.

So I guess it could actually work with a bit of commitment; but I haven't got the time: I am already doing microstock when I've nothing better to do :D

Someone who works the pages daily and has all the links could probably make some small income. Don't get me wrong. It's just not what some people promote it as being. In fact most of the pages that I see there are "how to make money on Hub pages" advise sites.  ;D

Micro writer is a nice way of looking at it. Will work for clicks is another.

I think its very similar to microstock.  How many people write about making money with microstock?  There are a few people there making well over $1,000 a month but they are putting in the hours.  Its probably a bit more work than microstock but I get bored doing the same job and will try a few different things this winter.

Exactly what I was thinking. It takes the will to spend a lot of time in an apparently crazy activity, just like we do with photos.

I Agree, it is exactly the same as micro.  You build up a portfolio of quality articles/postings and, over time, if yours are good they will mature nicely and reside towards the top of that particular category.

It is also about continued effort and patience, so just like microstock.  Oh the one pleasing thing is that nobody has to 'accept' your postings!!

I agree with FD. Post your own stuff on your own blog(s), and put in your affiliate links and adwrids there. Or, if you are willing to put in a lot of work and effort, make a web page. I found a lot of tips and inspiration on this page: http://www.nojobformom.com/ (http://www.nojobformom.com/)

He's not even posting about photography. No port links too. It's one of those clever parasites that roam around popular forums to defaecate their spamerrals. I told you so. He's blocked since the start. What's next? Selling Aigvra?  :P
