This has come up in some other topics and I hesitated to get into it because it has to do with getting your sites seen, and searches. Sometimes people say, Google can get it right, why can't the micros. (aside from the fact that Google has MIT engineers getting paid hundreds of thousands a year, as a team, working on the search algorithm and micros can't afford that...)

As huge as social media is, the even bigger challenge for Google has been the declining potency of its search engine. In recent years, Google searches have become a lot less useful and a lot more frustrating. It has become more difficult to find stuff that you know is out there even stuff that youve searched for (and found) previously. Another example is pages that have posted to the web more recently. They get overpowered in the Google algorithm by older pages that have had time to accumulate more incoming links.  :o ;D

Just as an aside, no spam, no links, but this has been my favorite search engine, since BEFORE Google existed. It's small, doesn't have the advertising and big name, but guess what... It Works!

Metacrawler by Infospace -  http://www.metacrawler.com/

All it does, very simply is search the other top search engines. So you get the most popular results according to what the biggest searches come up with. You can test it against Google for relevance and if it's like my results you will be surprised at how much more reliable and diverse the results are. I used to search my own name on Google and didn't find my own website until page two. I tried Metacrawler and I was the number one listing. Give it a spin, it may change your mind about using Google, Yahoo, Bing, or whatever "Mr. Big" site that has decided what we should see. Metacrawler lets us see what's the real best match.

OK so what's anyone think about Google having problems with their search and relevant results. Sound familiar?
