Just for advance warning. I use AVG free, I think it's wonderful. I appreciate what these people do... BUT

AVG Pop Up

All the boxes are checked when it opens and there's a nag reminder which defaults to every ten minutes. If you don't uncheck each one you will get a new Toolbar, it will set AVG search as your default and it will set your home page to AVG Secure Search.

And when you go look at your update and protection, it tries to get you to install the TRIAL version by a link from the Firewall tab that's got a bright orange highlight.

Another update for something else I did yesterday, did the same thing, but in three screens, so it's more invasive, however that one had an "Ignore All" on screens 2-3-4 after the basic accept.

This is actually called "Crapware" no I have nothing to do with the name.  8)

The warning is, please pay attention, some of these updates from nice plugins and utilities are getting more aggressive with their default crapware boxes.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security. Get it every year just before X-Mas for $10 or less.

Last year I got it free from Newegg with manufacturer's rebate. That's the 3 PC license.

I'm tired of the free versions because of above mentioned annoyances.

Yes good one click and I have a friend who gets Norton every year and it includes three licenses. Unfortunately I'm not one of his three closest friends. LOL Not a negative, he just has people who need it more than me and he knows I use Clamwin, Maleware Bytes and AVG, so he helps the more helpless.

Who me, pay money for something I can get free. How dare you!  ;D

Pete and Cheap are close words sometimes.

Antivir from Avira is a good antivirus software and has a freeware version.
This version only comes with a pop-up screen when the antivirus definitions are updated.
It has always good scores in tests and reviews.
